Squad news

THINKING OF SD EIBAR

17 Dec 2015
Busy week for Deportivo, the team only rested three days after the liga visit to the Camp Nou. The good news is that there are no fresh injuries in a squad that last three players within the last two weeks.

New week with the team disputing three official games and new week with coach Víctor Sánchez dividing the squad in two groups. The one that faced the Copa Del Rey worked on Tuesday behind closed doors at the Riazor, while the rest had a normal week as they trained at Abegondo focusing in the league game against SD Eibar (Riazor, Saturday, 22h05 CET). Both groups were reunited on Wednesday ahead of the next game.

The good news is that Víctor didn’t suffer any injury in the games against FC Barcelona and UE Llagostera, only winger Miguel Cardoso picked a minor muscle problem and right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ picked the fifth yellow card of the season at the Camp Nou, reason why he is suspended for Saturday. In the previous two weeks the coach lost up to three men due to physical problems.

Four players are already out of Saturday’s game due to injury reasons: goalkeeper Fabricio (knee), midfielder Celso Borges (toe), winger Jonás Gutiérrez and striker Oriol Riera (both thigh). Meanwhile, midfielder Cani is doubtful; he seems to be recovered from an ankle knock, but skipped Wednesday's training due to illness.

If Víctor is losing Laure for suspension, he is recovering other two men for the same reason. Centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera returns after missing the game at the Camp Nou, while Luisinho was suspended in Copa and is now available for the coach.

SD Eibar had a solid start in the season and was among the first places within the first matchdays, but they only added two of the last twelve points in dispute and want to return to winning ways in order to avoid the same chaos of last season.

Coach José Luis Mendilibar used big part of the normal starters in Copa trying to overcome the 0-3 disadvantage with SD Ponferradina. For Saturday’s game the coach will have two casualties, the main one is centre-back Iván Ramis, who was sent off at the last minute of the 1-1 draw with Valencia CF. He is fulfilling the suspension in liga, while goalkeeper Jaime Jiménez is out due to a knock (Sacrum).
