REVIEW: VERIN 1 - FABRIL 1 (TERCERA)

22 Dec 2015
Poor result facing a team that only had thirteen players available. Fabril were better in the first part and got the advantage, but in the second it let it go as the game became more open.

BEFORE THE GAME
Coach Manu Mosquera continued playing with a 4-3-3. Bamba N’Diaye, who was a starter in the past two games, was left out of the roster and his place at the starting formation was for Hugo Rama.  Centre-back Róber Suárez was a starter after been picked by Víctor Sánchez for the game Vs. SD Eibar.

David Gómez was the keeper, Blas Alonso played at the right side in defense, Lucas Viña performed on the left, the centre-backs were Iago López and Róber. Edu Expósito, Rama and Manú Silva were the centre midfielders, Juan Otero attacked from the left flank, Álex Corredera did it from the right and Óscar García was the centre forward.

The rival was Verín CF, a team that will end the year out of relegation, but that arrived to this meeting with serious problems. Coach Iván González had three suspensions and several injury cases, to the point that he only had fourteen players available, two of them were goalkeepers. So, he was able to present eleven starters and only had two changes. To make things worse attacker Javi Ramos was only fit enough to play for 45 minutes and was replaced at half-time. Ex-Fabril Iago Beceiro was a starter for the locals.

THE MATCH
Disappointing result for Fabril; a team with enough resources and aspiring to end among the first four places cannot drop two points before a rival with serious problems like Verín CF. The worst part is that the game was equal in the second half, just when Mosquera’s lads should have been the superior side on the pitch.

Depor B were the better side in the first half, but the first chance to score was for Verín with a shot of Iago Beceiro that went over the crossbar (3’). And Depor B got an early advantage. It was a corner-kick on the left taken by Corredera.

The high cross went into the box, Otero jumped for the ball and local goalie Diego García punched it into the path of Iago García, who scored with a low and crossed shot. It’s his fourth goal on the season.

The goal brought confidence and Fabril dominated the first part, but was unable to score more goals. Otero was a dagger for the locals and the best opportunities were the shots of Óscar and Corredera that were stopped by Diego García. In the final minutes Beceiro had an opportunity for the locals, but his shot missed the target.

The second half was a different story; Fabril lost control of the actions and the game became more open. Verín scored an early equalizer and it was very similar to Fabril’s goal. It was a corner-kick at the same side of the previous goal, the ball was cleared by the defence and reached the path of Hugo Dominguez, who eluded two rivals to end releasing a strong shot that hit the back of Rubén Lamelas, the deflection fooled David Gómez as the ball went into the far post.

With the 1-1 in the scoresheet, Mosquera made changes and Pancho Cotos and Borja Domingo entered the pitch. The latter and Corredera had the next chances to score, but their shots were blocked by Diego García. The last modification was the entry of left-back Jorge Fernández in a desperate attempt to gain depth on the left wing.

The final ten minutes were intense, to the point that there was a big fight that meant the referee to show six yellow cards and expel two players. Borja Domingo was the one sent off at Fabril. The game ended with a big chance for Beceiro that was saved by David Gómez (90+4’)

AFTER THE GAME
Poor result and poor performance of a team that should have won the game taking in mind the circumstances of the rival. Fabril continue without showing the expected superiority at Tercera and ended the year out of the promotion zone, sixth at the standings and three points below the fourth place. The first game in 2016 will be the home match with As Pontes, a team with the same points than Depor B (January 3). It’s also the last game in the first round.
