PLETIKOSA WILL JOIN THE CLUB ON MONDAY

26 Dec 2015
On Friday Deportivo officially announced the signing of Stipe Pletikosa. The Croatian goalkeeper will arrive on Sunday and one day later will undergo the medicals.

Stipe Pletikosa will join Deportivo on Monday. The 36-year-old goalkeeper arrives to A Coruña on Sunday and one day later will undergo the medicals before signing his six-month contract with the Galician club. He will be unavailable for the coming game against Getafe CF as the window to inscribe player opens until January.

The veteran goalie is the first, and probably the only, winter reinforcement of the club. The move is made in order to cover the absence of Fabricio Agosto, who will be left out of the roster for the second part of the season after needing surgery to correct his knee injury.

Pletikosa has never played in Spain, but is the second most capped player in the history of Croatia and played 378 official games distributed between clubs like Hajduk Split, Shakhtar Donetsk, Spartak Moscow, Totteham Hotspurs and FC Rostov.

He is the second Croatian player in the history of Deportivo. The first one was defender Milos Hrstic, who played 27 games at Segunda División wearing the Blanquiazul during the season 1985/86. This is the second move of Depor during the winter window 2015/16 after the loan of Saúl García.
