Big expectations in Madrid with the debut of Zidane. At Deportivo, there are no fresh injuries and Víctor is pending to recover Cani, while Celso Borges is already training on the pitch.

Busy month for Deportivo, the team has played three games in a matter of seven days and the pace will be the same for the coming week with the definition in Copa scheduled for Tuesday and with the upcoming clash at the Bernabeú against Real Madrid (Saturday, 20h30 CET).

For this reason the team didn’t have any day for the rest and won’t have it at least until the end of next week. The good news is that there are no fresh injuries and instead coach Víctor Sánchez is recovering people. Centre-back Albert Lopo returned before the expectations from his muscle problem and played in Copa, while Luisinho is available after his suspension in liga.

Alejandro Arribas was under medical observation after the strong hit in the head suffered against Villarreal, but he is already fine and will be a starter. Playmaker Fede Cartabia was rested in Copa as he was dragging an ankle knock, and the Argentine is also ready to play.

For the game in Madrid only two men are ruled out: goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto (knee) and centre midfielder Celso Borges (toe fracture). The latter is advancing in his recovery process and on Thursday he started to work apart on the pitch. He should be available in February.

Cani is the player doubtful due to the ankle problem that sidelined him from the games against Villarreal and Mirandés. He will be assessed on Friday and the doctors will determine if he will be available. New signing Stipe Pletikosa is still waiting for his transfer and it isn’t clear if the Croatian will be available for Saturday, but the issue should be fixed before the next liga game at Real Sociedad.

At Real Madrid, everything has been turning around the figure of Zinedine Zidane. The French legend replaced Rafa Benitez at the beginning of the week and his footsteps have been followed really closely by the media. He will debut as a coach against Deportivo as the expectations are high as the fans see him as a “saviour” though the team remains in a comfortable position in both la liga and Champions League.

After the embarrassing elimination in Copa Los Blancos have a fresh squad for Saturday, after months dealing with endless muscle problems, now the full team is fit to play and the only casualty against Depor is centre midfielder Mateo Kovačić, who was sent off with a direct red card in the past meeting with Valencia CF.
