Several distractions for Monday’s math with renewals, exits and a long week after the game with Valencia. Four players will miss the game, including Lux, who is suspended. CF

Weird week for Deportivo, first to all the first team is having eight days to prepare the game against Rayo Vallecano as it was scheduled until Monday (Riazor, 20h30 CET). The coaching staff even gave two free days to the squad at the beginning of the week, so the players had a lot of time to think about the disappointing 1-1 before Valencia CF.

Secondly, the market window closing the doors on Monday focused the attention in other things, on Wednesday the club was announcing the one-year renewal of coach Víctor Sánchez, then one day later it was confirmed the exit on loan of winger Miguel Cardoso while the alarm bells raised as it was speculated that centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera was pretended by Valencia CF. Then, on Friday, it was announced that Haris Medunjanin was leaving after rescinding his contract.

A lot of distractions, but the coaching staff want to remain focused in the game. Víctor is having four casualties for Monday, three of them are out for injury reasons: goalkeeper Fabricio, centre midfielder Celso Borges and playmaker Fede Cartabia (both toe). The last two completed part of the session with the team during Friday and their return is closer to happen.

The fourth casualty is goalkeeper German Lux, who is suspended after picking a fifth yellow card on the season. During the week Víctor also called some lads from Depor B, centre-back Róber is used to train with the first team and this week it wasn’t different, but the big novelty was Colombian striker Juan Otero, who worked with the team on Thursday.

At Rayo Vallecano, the team of Paco Jémez will try to capitalize the impulse after the recent 3-0 win over RC Celta, result that pulled them out of relegation. Still, the former player of Deportivo already hinted that he won’t continue on next season. The true is that there is a sense of disappointment around the club for the current performance.

Besides there are injury problems affecting the team lately, goalkeepers David Cobeño (hernia) and Toño (knee) plus winger Patrick Ebert (Achilles) are long-term casualties, while midfielder Adrián Embarba (ankle sprain) and left-back Razvan Rat (shoulder) won’t be available until the middle of the month.

Centre-back Antonio Amaya should be available for Monday after surpassing a muscle injury, though it isn’t clear if he will be a starter. About the market, right-back José Ángel Crespo and Armenian right winger Aras Özbiliz are the reinforcements of the team and could be making his debut at the Riazor, while ex-Depor Luis Fariña already left the club in order to join Chilean Universidad de Chile.
