Ups and downs for Víctor ahead of the crucial game with Levante, Juanfran and Lucas are back, but Arribas and Lopo are dragging issues. Manuel Pablo could have played his last game with Deportivo.

The next game against Levante UD (Riazor, Sunday, 20h30 ET) is considered a final and a negative result would complicate the things at the standings and even the continuity of the coach, so Víctor Sánchez is aware that he needs his best players. And on this week he has had good and bad news.

The good news is that right-back Juanfran Moreno (Soleus), left-back Luisinho (knee) and striker Lucas Pérez (Soleus) are all available after skipping the past game at Atlético Madrid.  The three of them have been normal starters all season long and are ready for Saturday.

It also means good news that three men dragging issues are progressing and could be available for the game. Centre midfielder Juan Domínguez (thigh) joined the group on Monday, but hasn’t received the medical okay to play and is uncertain if he will be fit, though the Galician player hasn’t been in the coach’s plans; actually he hasn’t played in liga in 2016 (only two appearances in Copa Del Rey).

Meanwhile, right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’, who picked an ankle knock during Tuesday, was considered to be doubtful for the game against Levante UD, but by Wednesday he was already working with the team and should be fit for Saturday.

The third man in this short list is goalkeeper German Lux, who picked a knock on his right thigh at the end of the game against Atlético, he just completed part of the session on Tuesday and Wednesday, but t’s expected that he will start on Saturday.

Then the negative news, for now only three players are already out of Saturday’s match, but other three are doubtful. The men out are goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto (knee), right-back Manuel Pablo (muscle) and centre-back Sidnei Rechel (muscle). The Brazilian was expected for this week, but he has been training apart and is now expected to return after the break.

In the case of Manuel Pablo, the scans revealed that he sustained a grade-2 muscle injury on his left thigh during the game with Atlético, he could be out up to two months, which means that the game at the Calderón could have meant the last one for the Canarian right-back at Depor. It has been a tough season for him after missing the start of the campaign due to another muscle problem.

Then the three players doubtful are goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa (knee), plus centre-backs Albert Lopo (ankle) and Alejandro Arribas (thigh concussion). The Serbian skipped Wednesday’s session and is pending of new scans, while the centre-backs left the session in the final stretch. It isn’t certain if both will be fit to play for Saturday

Despite been a crucial game, the environment has been calm at Abegondo, there was a barbecue on Wednesday and Víctor even picked some Fabril’s lads for the first three training sessions, on Monday up to seven academy lads were working with the first team, including Juvenil A right-back Brais Lema. One day later Canadian Sam Piette, Santi Taboada and David Gómez were working with the squad, while on Wednesday it was the chance for Jorge Fernández, Santi Taboada and Blas Alonso.

At Levante UD, the team has spent more time than anyone else as the bottom club in la liga (17 of 29 matchdays), but there are signs of hope for a side that has only won six times on the season, starting with the fact that 2 of those 6 wins came within the last five games, including the latest 1-0 victory in the derby with Valencia CF.

Coach Joan Francesc Ferrer ‘Rubi’ arrived in October and his players are starting to respond, starting with Brazilian Deyverson Silva, the top-scorer of the team that has scored five of his nine goals within the last ten matchdays.

There are only two casualties for the game at the Riazor. Right-back Iván López is out with knee problem, while left-back Toño Garcia is out with an ankle injury. Midfielder Simão Junior suffered a blow in the face during a training session, but he’s available for the coach.
