A victory in the next game will secure the permanence for Depor, a draw and even a defeat could be enough too, but only with the combination in 2 of 3 results from the direct rivals.

Matchday 37 arrives with Levante UD been the first relegated club to Segunda División. Six clubs are trying to avoid the remaining two spots at the bottom: RCD Espanyol, Deportivo, Granada CF, Rayo Vallecano, Sporting Gijón and Getafe CF.

Only Sporting Gijón can end relegated in this matchday, if they lose visiting Getafe and if both Rayo Vallecano and Granada CF win their games, then the Asturians would be at Segunda because they are losing the particular series with Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.

In any case, Deportivo will not reach the last matchday in relegation and in case of needing a tie breaker at that instance, then the Galician side has only won the series to RCD Espanyol and Rayo Vallecano, while the series with the other three clubs are lost.

These are the scenarios that Deportivo will live depending on the result at El Madrigal:

A win at El Madrigal will secure the permanence for one more season, this regardless of the other results, because the Blanquiazul outfit would keep, at least, a four-point distance with four clubs and with only one match remaining in the schedule.

A draw will only secure the permanence if the result at El Madrigal is joined by at least one favourable result from two direct rivals. Depor will be pending of three games during the matchday: Getafe Vs. Sporting; Real Sociedad Vs. Rayo Vallecano & Sevilla Vs. Granada.

First to all to point out the game Getafe Vs. Sporting is a meeting between two sides that are below Depor at this point, so one of them -or both in case of a draw- will inevitable be four or five points away from the Galicians. Therefore, Deportivo would only need to escape from another team in order to avoid demotion.

And there are two candidates: Granada and Rayo Vallecano. If Depor draw at El Madrigal, then it would only need to see one of these two clubs failing to win their away games. With this combination Depor will at least have a four-point advantage over two of the teams involved in the fight, something that automatically will bring the permanence.

It’s possible to achieve the permanence in this matchday in case of a defeat at El Madrigal, but in this scenario it is more complicated, because Depor would need two favourable results. First, it will need to see a winner in the game Getafe Vs. Sporting -no matter who- and later will need to see Rayo Vallecano losing in their visit to Real Sociedad. It’s the only combination that will bring the permanence in case of a defeat.
