Tension at Deportivo due to the situation at the standings, to make things worse Víctor could end up with only 18 players available for the game. Villarreal arrive to the game after been eliminated in the Europa League.

It has been a tense week for Deportivo, not only for the situation at the standings, but also for the problems inside the changing room. The players themselves have admitted the tension after losing at home before Getafe CF, result that left Depor four points above relegation with two games remaining. It seems to be a good situation though, but with Villarreal CF and Real Madrid as the next rivals, then the panic is around the corner.

Meanwhile, the issue between Luisinho and Víctor Sánchez is on the spotlight ahead of the important visit to El Madrigal (Sunday, 17h00 CET), the Portuguese player was sidelined from the trainings since last week, but the pressure from the club allowed his return for Thursday’s session.  Still, it is believed that he won’t be picked for the game (he didn’t took part in the tactical work)

President Tino Fernández visited the team on Thursday and talked to the players after the training session. Once again he tried to transmit the confidence of the board of directors, though the main rumour is that Víctor will be axed at the end of the league tournament.

The expected absence of Luisinho means a major problem as Fernando Navarro is suspended with five yellow cards. So, there’s no natural choice for the left-back position. On Thursday the coach was testing with Manuel Pablo on that position, though he didn’t test a specific draw.

There are other problems as centre midfielder Celso Borges is also suspended after been sent off against Getafe CF. It means two normal starters are out of Sunday’s game. The other two players out are injured goalkeepers Fabricio Agosto and German Lux.

Centre midfielder Juan Dominguez picked an ankle sprain and is doubtful for the game, so the coach could end with only 18 players available if in the end Dominguez is unable to play and if Luisinho is ruled out.

At Villarreal CF, the yellow submarine made a great season and will end fourth no matter the last two results, but they will arrive to the meeting with Depor with the sadness of not reaching the final in the UEFA Europa League after been trashed by FC Liverpool in the final.

Coach Marcelino Toral has no injuries and neither suspensions for the game, but at this point it isn’t know if he will make rotations within the last two games. The Valencians have nothing to win or lose and could be making rotations in order to give minutes to the less habitual players.
