Eleven of twenty-nine players are leaving Deportivo for ending their link with the club. The club is interested in the continuity of at least three of them. The remaining eighteen men are under contract.

There are ten players that end their link with Deportivo on June 30: Goalkeepers Manu, Fabricio Agosto and Stipe Pletikosa, centre-back Albert Lopo, right-back Juanfran Moreno, midfielder Cani, playmakers Fayçal Fajr and Cani, winger Jonás Gutiérrez plus attackers Jonathan Rodriguez and Luis Alberto.

Of this list, the club is eager to negotiate the continuity of three of them: Cartabia, Luis Alberto and Juanfran Moreno. In the first two cases there are reports about the initial talks with their parent clubs in order to negotiate a new loan or even a final transfer, but it won’t be easy due to their good performance at Depor.

In the case of Juanfran, things are more complicated due to the contract situation of the player. It is a complex ownership divided in several clubs/entities that not even the same player clearly understands. Depor are interested in his continuity, but hasn’t made any contact yet as they are waiting to define with whom they should talk.

And there’s a fourth case: Fajr. The club’s officials want him to continue, but there isn’t any ongoing negotiation as it’s a special case. Officially the Moroccan player was loaned from Elche CF, but he has a release clause that’s automatically activated if the Valencian club fails to clinch the promotion to Primera. They lost on Tuesday before RCD Mallorca (2-1) and are four points away of the promotion zone with only two games remaining. So, as soon as it is confirmed that Elche CF won’t be playing the promotion playoff, then he will be free to secure a contract with Deportivo. He has said before that he would like to continue.

The case with Fabricio is more uncertain. He just received the medical okay to play and the club offered a renewal at the end of 2015, but no response was received and president Tino Fernández said in past months that they understand that they are free to search for another goalkeeper.

Then there are eighteen players that are under contract ahead of the season 2016/17. Thirteen ended the previous season playing for the team: goalkeeper German Lux, right-backs Laure and Manuel Pablo, centre-backs Alejandro Arribas and Sidnei Rechel, left-backs Luisinho and Fernando Navarro, centre-midfielders Álex Bergantiños, Celso Borges, Pedro Mosquera and Juan Dominguez, plus strikers Lucas Pérez and Oriol Riera.

Five men are returning after ending last season loaned at other clubs: Pablo Insua, Bicho, Saul Fernández, Luis Fernández and Miguel Cardoso.  Their continuity will depend on the decision of the coach, role that by the way isn’t clear yet as the club are still thinking about the convenience of keeping Víctor Sánchez Del Amo.

Some of the players under contract might leave, either because the club isn’t happy with them or because they could be transferred, which are the cases of Sidnei or Lucas. The case with Manuel Pablo is special as the veteran defender still has to announce if he will retire or if he is planning to fulfil the two years pending on his contract.
