Tino Fernández already received the report from the sporting direction with the list of candidates to become the new coach of Deportivo. Gaizka Garitano and Luis César are mentioned as candidates in the short list.

On last week, president Tino Fernández announced that the sporting direction was going to present during these days a short list with three candidates for Depor’s bench. According to La Voz de Galicia this list was presented on Tuesday to Depor’s boss.

In the previous days, advisor Richard Barral interviewed the agent of some candidates or talked to the coaches by phone. One of them was Paco Jémez, who was considered as the favorite, though later the agent of the former Rayo Vallecano trainer, Daniel Muñoz, told to reporters that they weren’t satisfied with the offer from Depor, reason why they were stepping down so the club could negotiate with someone else. It was reported that Jémez wanted €1.9 million in terms of wages.

Since then the papers in Galicia coincided that two of the three names in the short list are Gaizka Garitano and Luis César Sampedro. Garitano is the former coach of SD Eibar that reached the glory of the promotion to Primera, but that had a bad year after only spending nine games with Real Valladolid at Segunda División, he was fired on October 21 and is searching for a job since then.

Neither good has been the year for Luis César. The Galician, who is a confessed fan of Depor, spent three solid years with Albacete Balompié, a career that included the promotion to Liga Adelante, but the last season was terrible. He was fired on March 12 as his team was 20th at the standings (they ended suffering the relegation).

About the third name on the list, Radio Cadena SER reported that it is a former player of Deportivo. The name wasn’t revealed, but it could be Miroslav Đukić, José Francisco Molina or Sergio González.  There are rumors of a phone conversation between Barral and Molina, while the other two are available. AS reported that Sergio is the third candidate

The final decision on the new coach won’t be immediate. According to La Voz de Galicia the board of directors will have a meeting on Thursday and the name of the new coach should be released at the beginning of next week.
