Eight young players at Deportivo will fight for a spot during the pre-season, a good part of them might go out loaned, but the point is that they will have a chance trying to convince new coach Gaizka Garitano.

With the arrival of Bora Valle to Deportivo, the number of players at the first team is 22, but at least six of them don’t have a secure place ahead of the new season. It’s the case of the young players that still have to convince the new coach or instead go out loaned.

22 players at the first seems as the right number for a coach that seems open to rely in the B team -the first thing Gaizka Garitano did after signing for Depor was to travel to Madrid in order to watch Depor B in the playoffs- but it must be reminded that between five and seven more signings are expected and definitely someone must go out.

There are six players at the first team without a secure place for new season: centre-back Pablo Insua, left-back Saul García, centre midfielder Juan Dominguez, wingers Bicho and Miguel Cardoso, plus striker Luis Fernández. Two Fabril’s names should be added to the list: centre-back Róber Pier and winger Óscar García, who will be making the pre-season with the first team.

In a press conference held on this week sporting director Richard Barral admitted that the club already has a clear idea of what to do in each case, but that ultimately they will wait for the coach’s opinion before making a move, this means that all of them will have a chance during the pre-season.

There are only two cases that seems defined, the first is Juan Dominguez. Barral admitted in his press conference that they already had a conversation with the player about the convenience of going out loaned, though he left an open door to keep him if there’s no agreement with the clubs interested in a loan.

A second case is Óscar García, who will complete his second year at Fabril. It seems that he will stay at Tercera División and that will be also training with the first team as Róber did on last season, after all the winger is only 20 and the coaching staff prefers to have the player at reach in order to follow his evolution.
