Deportivo have practically closed the squad two weeks before the debut in liga, while Garitano tunes his team in the last three friendly games on the pre-season.

On Friday, Gaizka Garitano directed his first training at the Riazor, it was a session behind closed doors that invites to remember that the debut in liga is only two weeks away. The good news is that the club has practically closed the squad, just when one full month is still available in the transfer window.

Currently Deportivo have 24 players at the first team and the only pending subjects are related to two players that might leave: Oriol Riera and Saul García.  The Catalan striker is out of the coach’s plans according to La Voz de Galicia and the club is searching for an exit to him, which would even include the possibility of sending him on loan.

The striker was left out of the next friendly against CD Feirense (Saturday, 21h00 CET), but it was for injury reasons. Meanwhile the case with Saul is related to the status of Luisinho. It seems that the club has changed its mind and the Portuguese player won’t leave Deportivo despite president Tino Fernández said before that he was going out.

The left-back was included in the roster for the game against SD Feirense, while Saúl was left out. This is understood as a signal that he will be go out on loan for the second straight opportunity. Another news is that Borja Valle seems to be staying. Garitano said in the recent days that he has made a decision about him, but that nothing will be public until talking to the player, but his presence for the friendly in Portugal is a sign that he has big chances of staying.

With Marlos Moreno completing the squad, Depor could start the league season with 22 players at the first team, number that will only change in case of having a late exit related to a big transfer, though the club could try to cover the spot with a late signing.

In the meantime, Garitano is polishing the system that he will be use in liga, only three friendly games are remaining on the pre-season. The game against SD Feirense will be followed by the Teresa Herrera game with Villarreal CF and later by the visit to Sporting Gijón.
