Sunday’s derby arrives after both Galician teams suffered big losses in la liga. Deportivo are already preparing the game, but RC Celta have to play before in the Europa League.

The week of the derby started with Deportivo and RC Celta presenting a TV spot sponsored by ABANCA, the name of the campaign is “Imposible Sen Ti” (impossible without you). The objective of the campaign is to prevent incidents and promote the idea that the derby shouldn’t be a high-risk game. Coach Gaizka Garitano and Celso Borges represented Depor during the act.

But apart of this act the environment before the derby remains cold, starting with the fact that RC Celta have to play on Thursday for the Europa League hosting AFC Ajax. Los Celestes are for now only thinking of that game and the players will start to talk in public about the derby until Friday.

At the same time the situation of both teams at the standings is lowering the expectations among the fans. Deportivo are only one point above relegation and Los Blanquiazules are coming from a 0-4 loss visiting FC Barcelona and after increasing the doubts about their offensive game.

Meanwhile, RC Celta changed the mood of the fans in only one week, after a delightful 4-3 win over FC Barcelona they were trashed by Villarreal CF (5-0) and there are already doubts about the potential of the team for the season.

Both group of fans have also suffered a disappointment at the start of the season after their respective clubs sold the star of last season, in the case of RC Celta it was Nolito, who was transferred to Manchester City, and for Depor it was Lucas Pérez, who now belongs to Arsenal.
