NEW LAWN AT THE RIAZOR

30 Oct 2016
The club invested €218,984.42 in the new lawn at the Riazor, the work took a month and will hold its first game during the home clash with Valencia CF.

Since Deportivo were going to play two straight games on the road, plus the international break, Deportivo’s officials decided to change the lawn of the Riazor, this in order to fulfill the new rules of la liga in terms of the broadcasting of the games.

The work was not only to replace the old lawn, but also to change the irrigation system as the number of sprinklers passed from 17 to 35. The new project included the installation of 500 meters of pipelines and the elevation of the ground was reduced in 30 centimeters.

Another novelty is that the goals are now removable, which allows a better treatment of the lawn at both areas. The project started on October 2 and was ended on Wednesday with an estimate cost of €218,984.42. The first team already tested the new pitch during Saturday’s training behind closed doors.
