Garitano will miss three players for the home game with Sevilla CF; the relapse of Joselu wasn’t as bad as it was feared. The rival arrives recovering players, but pending of the Champions League.

Deportivo return after the international break and host one of the best teams in the current liga tournament, Sevilla CF (Riazor, Saturday, 13h00 CET). Coach Gaizka Garitano is having three casualties for the meeting: striker Joselu (knee), right-back Laure (hamstring) and attacker Borja Valle (quadriceps).

Joselu was already integrated into the group and it was expected that he was going to have minutes in this game, but suffered a relapse from his knee injury on last week and it was feared his return was going to be delayed until next year, but on this week the player was already training apart on the pith and touching the ball. So, it was only a small step back though no one at the club wants to fix a possible day for his return.

In the case of Borja Valle, he suffered an injury during a training session on last week and the scans detected a tear in the quadriceps muscle of his right leg (grade II), so he will be out between three and four weeks. About Laure, he picked a muscle problem on this week and the scans revealed a grade I-II hamstring problem on his left leg. He will be out for fifteen days.

Garitano is also pending of the fitness of the international players. Emre Çolak is training with the group since Monday and is the fresher international after not playing any minute in the break. Romanian Florin Andone and Moroccan Fayçal Fajr had minutes with their teams and joined the team on Thursday, while Celso Borges played two full games with Costa Rica and travelled from Central America to join the team until Friday. It is commented that he’s going to be rested for this game and Guilherme would cover his place at midfield.

At Sevilla CF, coach Jorge Sampaoli is recovering important players at defence, but needs to make decisions ahead of the Champions League. Centre-back Nico Pareja is back after two weeks due to a muscle problem, while right-back Gabriel Mercado returns from a suspension. Thus, Sampaoli could return to the line of three defenders.

The players out for injury reasons are midfielder Benoît Trémoulinas (meniscus), striker Carlos Fernández (knee surgery), winger Krohn-Dehli (leg fracture) and playmaker Samir Nasri (muscle), the latter has small options to be picked for Saturday’s game, but it’s not probable as Sampaoli will probably save him for the big game in midweek against Juventus.

Precisely the meeting in Champions League might have a direct impact at the starting lineup, especially since five players joined the team until Thursday due to the international break: Sergio Escudero and Vitolo (Spain), Adil Rami (France), Gabriel Mercado (Argentine) and Hiroshi Kiyoyake (Japan). The Chilean might be tempted to make changes in order to rotate his squad in a season that means to face three competitions.
