Deportivo recover all the injured players plus adding options in attack with the winter singings. Only Fajr and Ola John will not be available for Saturday, while SD Eibar are facing big problems in defence due to the casualties.

Good news for Deportivo ahead of the opening in the second round with the Galician side visiting SD Eibar (Ipurúa, Saturday, 18h30 CET). The injury problems of coach Gaizka Garitano were erased in a stroke of a pen, the same used to sign the contract of the three winter reinforcements, the same pen that will sign the medical okay of the two players that were at the injury room.

First to all, wingers Bruno Gama (adductor) and Carles Gil (knee sprain) will receive the medical okay to play on Friday after been training with the group all week long, then wingers Ola John and Gaël Kakuta joined the trainings since last week after signing their loan spells.

Kakuta is expected to be available for Saturday, while John needs more time as he is missing fitness. The third signing in the winter window, Belgian goalkeeper Davy Roef, is training since Wednesday at Abegondo and it still to be seen if he will be picked for any game in the second round.

Thus only two players will be unavailable for Saturday: Ola John and playmaker Fayçal Fajr, who remain with Morocco after the Atlas Lions qualified for the quarterfinals in the AFCON 2017 (they play on Sunday against Egypt).

Garitano passed from a situation in which he barely had men to fill a roster to situation in which he has 21 available players. So, apart from the two mentioned cases, other three men will have to be ruled out for tactical reasons.

SD Eibar have lost two of the last three games in the competition, but they remain only five points below the European zone. Still, the Basques will arrive to the game against Depor in a complicate moment, first because they had to play in midweek for Copa Del Rey facing Atlético Madrid (eliminated with a 2-5 aggregate score) and will only have three days for the rest before playing against Deportivo.

Later, because coach José Luis Mendilibar is having big problems with the injuries, especially the ones affecting the defence. For Saturday’s game five men are currently out: Goalkeeper Asier Riesgo (knee sprain), centre-back Iván Ramis (Malleolus fracture), left-back David Juncà (ankle sprain) and striker Kike García (fibula). The other casualty is midfielder Gonzalo Escalante, who is suspended with five yellow cards.

Also, playmaker Jota Peleteiro left the club during the winter window after been recalled by his parent club Brentford. Right-back Anaitz Arbilla (Soleus) has been out since January 3 and there’s a small chance that he could be available against Depor, while playmaker Fran Rico picked a knock in midweek’s game against Atlético Madrid. Besides, left-back Antonio Luna is doubtful due to a knock suffered in the past league game with FC Barcelona.

Paraguayan midfielder Óscar Romero is the only winter signing made so far and, if Arbilla, Fran Rico and Luna are fit to play, then Mendilibar will only have seventeen players to make the roster for the game, which means that at least one player from B squad will be picked for the meeting. But if any of them are out, then the coach will need more lads from the B squad in order to fill the gaps. For the returning leg against Atlético Madrid three lads had to be picked due to the casualties.
