It turned to be a busy transfer window for Deportivo. The club completed three signings and three exits, and it even completed the first signing for the campaign 2017/18.

“Man by man” It was the phrase used by president Tino Fernández at the moment of describing the operations that Deportivo were doing during the winter transfer window. And it was like that as the club limited to cover the exits with a new arrival for the same position.

In the end it was a busy transfer window with Depor completing three signings and three arrivals. Firstly Ryan Babel ended his contract and decided to leave to Turkey, he was followed by Borja Valle, who was loaned to Elche CF at Segunda División.

The club covered these exits with the arrivals of wingers Gaël Kakuta and Ola John, both are loan spells lasting until the end of the campaign and without having buyout option. These four players have different characteristics, but Garitano was having them at the squad in order to perform on the wings.

The third exit/arrival was linked to the goal Rubén Martínez wanted more minutes and decided to accept and offer coming from RSC Anderlecht. Deportivo negotiated a loan lasting until the end of the season and the deal also included the arrival in the same terms of Belgian goalie Davy Roef.

Deportivo even had time to close the first reinforcement for the season 2017/18: playmaker Fede Cartabia. The Argentine rescinded his contract with Valencia CF on deadline day and signed a five-year contract with Depor starting on June 2017.  For now he will play on loan at SC Braga.

The squad for the rest of the season 2016/17 (squad numbers in parenthesis):
Goalkeepers: Lux (1), Tytoń (13) & Roef (25)

Attackers: Joselu (7), Marlos Moreno (9) & Andone (10).

The long transfer window -opened since August for Tercera clubs- also ended with novelties at Deportivo B. Centre-back Hugo Díaz was loaned to city-rivals SD Silva, centre midfielder Alberto Leira was loaned to Racing Vilabés, while centre midfielder Bamba N´Diaye rescinded his contract.

The three lads had barely performed with the team, actually Leira didn’t even debut with the team and was only training, at times even with the first team. The last signing is midfielder Carlos López (25), who is coming from Catalan club L'Hospitalet. He signs a contract lasting until June with the option to extend it for one additional year.
