DEPORTIVO IN FEBRUARY

02 Feb 2017
Four liga matches are waiting for Deportivo in February. The Galicians face very different rivals in the month that are targeting different goals.

The elimination in Copa Del Rey reduces the action for Deportivo, in February Los Blanquiazules face four liga meetings, two at home and two on the road. Each one is different for the moment and the goals of the rivals.

It starts this Friday as Real Betis visit the Riazor. Víctor Sánchez’s team remains to be an unstable team with different results, within the last six matchdays they won twice, drew twice and clinched two draws. The Andalusians are only four points above Depor and are coming after a solid presentation hosting FC Barcelona (1-1).

The last five games of Betis:

COPA DEPORTIVO 3 BETIS 1
Matchday 17 BETIS 2 LEGANES 0
Matchday 18 ATLETICO 2 BETIS 0
Matchday 19 BETIS 0 SPORTING 0
Matchday 20 BETIS 1 BARCELONA 1

The first visit in the month is the game at San Mamés against Athletic Club. The Basques are undefeated within their last five liga meetings and are only two points below the European zone. A fact to have in mind is that the game with Depor arrives only five days before the first-leg in Europa League hosting APOEL Nicosia, so coach Ernesto Valverde might be tempted in making rotations.

The last five games of Athletic:

Matchday 17 ATHLETIC 0 ALAVES 0
COPA BARCELONA 3 ATHLETIC 1
Matchday 18 LEGANES 0 ATHLETIC 0
Matchday 19 ATHLETIC 2 ATLETICO 2
Matchday 20 ATHLETIC 2 SPORTING 1

Deportivo Alavés is the next visitor of the Riazor. The Basques are on fire as they reached the semi-finals in Copa Del Rey and have only lost one of their last fourteen official games. They are currently one of the best three defences in la liga after only allowing three goals in their last six games in the competition (same mark than Real Betis and FC Barcelona). In the same period they only scored three goals, which is the worst mark in the league.

The last six games of Alavés:

COPA VALENCIA 2 LEGANES 1
Matchday 17 BETIS 2 LEGANES 0
Matchday 18 LEGANES 0 ATHLETIC 0
Matchday 19 ALAVES 2 LEGANES 2
Matchday 20 LEGANES 0 CELTA 2

February ends with the visit to CD Leganés. The Madrilenians are a direct rival for the permanence as they are only one point below the Galicians. Los Pepineros are in the middle of a very negative streak as they are winless in their last ten official meetings.

The last five games of Leganés:

Matchday 18 CELTA 1 ALAVES 0
COPA ALCORCON 0 ALAVES 2
Matchday 19 ALAVES 2 LEGANES 2
