THINKING OF LEGANÉS

24 Feb 2017
Celso Borges will be doubtful until Friday, while Roef is finally available. The rival is living the same poor streak and has been affected by the injuries.

Very important game at Butarque as Deportivo visit CD Leganés (Saturday, 19h30 CET). Both teams have spent some months without winning and are at the edge of relegation, so the winner will get some fresh air, while the loser will continue living the nightmare.

Coach Gaizka Garitano is starting to be pointed out and the rumours suggest that he could be sacked in case of a defeat, though president Tino Fernández has stated that the club trust the Basque man and that his job isn’t in danger.

The big doubt for the game is Celso Borges, the centre midfielder picked an ankle sprain on Monday and will have a late test on Friday in order to know if he is available or not. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Davy Roef has finally surpassed ankle injury and joined the trainings on Thursday. The rest of the squad is fine.

It’s not clear yet if Garitano will make further changes after the ones made before Alavés, starting with the goal. German Lux was the starting goalie for the first time in four months and had a decent job after the error of Przemysław Tytoń against Athletic Club.

At CD Leganés, Los Pepineros are living a nightmare after spending three months without winning. They defeated Osasuna back in November (2-0) and since then they spent eleven liga meetings winless and only grabbed five draws. The game with the Navarrans also marked the starting point with the constant presence of injuries, something that has complicated the plans to coach Asier Garitano.

For the game against Depor, winger Robert Ibáñez and keeper Jon Serantes are out for injury reasons (both knee), while centre midfielder Alberto Martín is suspended and centre-back Pablo Insua is ineligible as Depor are his parent club. Then forward Mamadou Koné is doubtful with an ankle injury, same thing than centre midfielder David Timor (finger fracture). Ex-Depor Rubén Pérez was suspended for the past game with FC Barcelona and will be available for the meeting.
