Deportivo arrive to the derby living a sweet moment and also recovering people. Celta didn’t have good results lately, but they arrive after reaching the quarterfinals in the Europa League.

New edition of the Galician derby between Deportivo and RC Celta (Riazor, Sunday, 18h30 CET). Los Blanquiazules are living a sweet moment after adding 8 of the last 12 points in dispute, this no matter those four games had to be played in a matter of ten days and with a new coach, Pepe Mel.

Normally, the week of the derby is lived with a special motivation and with expectation, but in this opportunity the feeling that has prevailed is relief, because the team is eight points away from the drop zone (the biggest distance on this season), and also because the coach is recovering men for the game.

Striker Florin Andone and centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera return from suspension, while centre midfielder Guilherme (thigh) received the medical okay to play on Thursday. Meanwhile centre-back Sidnei Rechel has been out for the last two games with a groin injury, he started to train on this week and will make a late test on Saturday.

Apart from the case with Sidnei, the other casualty is left-back Fernando Navarro, who is suspended after picking a fifth yellow card during the game with FC Barcelona. Luisinho will replace him. Despite Mel is recovering people it seems that he is ready to rely again in the players that conquered the victory over Barca.

This since during the training sessions he has kept Joselu and Álex Bergantiños at the starting formation, so Mosquera and Andone could end up as substitutes. Sidnei could also be held back as Albentosa and Arribas made a nice game against the Catalans.

At RC Celta, the fans are euphoric after the qualification to the quarterfinals of the Europa League, their first entrance into this stage in sixteen years. But there is also some concern as the team had to fly to Russia in order to face FC Krasnodar, they returned until Friday’s noon and will only have two days to prepare the derby.

Coach Eduardo Berizzo only has two casualties for the game: centre midfielder Marcelo Díaz (knee sprain) and goalkeeper Rubén Blanco (thigh), but it’s expected that he will make rotations for the game as his team has been playing twice a week within the last month, though it’s also true that there’s a break on next week that will bring some rest.
