Depor’s winter signings haven’t had the impact that it was expected, the three latest arrivals have only enjoyed 307 minutes on the pitch, the lowest number among the clubs fighting to survive.

Deportivo made three winter signings: keeper Davy Roef plus wingers Gaël Kakuta and Ola John. The three of them arrived in order to cover spots that were empty after the exits of Rubén Martínez and Ryan Babel, but without having a positive outcome. Truly the team has reacted after the arrival of coach Pepe Mel, but the signings didn’t have any impact in this reaction.

And it’s that while Roef hasn’t played any minute yet due to his role as third keeper, while Kakuta (269) and Ola Johan (38) have only enjoyed of 307 minutes in liga, and both have had little impact in the results so far as neither of them have scored nor provided an assist.

It is the lowest number of minutes comparing the situation with the other teams fighting to survive in liga. CD Leganés made seven signings and they already added 2,638 minutes on the pitch; beyond that the signings are having an impact in the results, with the great example of midfielder Erik Morán, who in only six games already scored once and provided four assists.

Granada CF made six winter singings and they already added 2,001 minutes on the pitch, Colombian attacker Adrián Ramos is among the new additions and he already scored twice after eight presentations. Even clubs with lesser signings have witnessed how the new arrivals have played at lot.

It is the case of Sporting Gijón and CA Osasuna, both clubs are currently in relegation and only made two signings, but the signings at both clubs already surpassed the mark of 1,000 minutes (1,459 for the Asturians and 1,136 for the Navarrans).

Last season there was a similar situation as Depor only completed the signings of Stipe Pletikosa, who only played until the end of the liga campaign, but at the time the situation was different as Depor reached the end of the first round living comfortably at mid-table, so the officials determined that it wasn’t necessary to reinforce the squad.
