Three games in a matter of six days, it’s how Deportivo will start April as the Galicians launch the final stage in la liga. Pepe Mel is having three casualties for Sunday’s game against Valencia.

Deportivo return to competition after the international break and immediately face a busy week with three games in a frame of six days. On Sunday Los Blanquiazules visit Valencia CF (Mestalla 18h30 CET), then host Granada CF on Wednesday (Riazor, 20h30 CET) and on next Saturday the Galicians visit Sevilla CF (Sánchez Pizjuán, 18h30 CET).

The good thing for coach Pepe Mel is that he isn’t having too many casualties for the triple meeting. At this point, only three players are out of the first game: centre midfielder Pedro Mosquera, winger Gaël Kakuta and left-back Luisinho.

The Galician midfielder picked an injury at the end of last week, the scans confirmed a grade I muscle injury on his right thigh. It’s probable that he will miss the clash with Granada CF too, then the Congolese winger picked a groin problem on Thursday and will miss the game at Valencia, while the Portuguese left-back is suspended after picking a fifth yellow card in the defeat with RC Celta.

Apart from the case with Kakuta, the other international players arrived without facing physical problems, including Celso Borges, who joined the team on Friday after a long trip from Central America. Still, Mel hasn’t decided if he will be a starter at Mestalla.

The players that were facing issues are already fine. Centre-back Alejandro Arribas was dragging an ankle knock since last week, but he joined the trainings on Thursday. Meanwhile winger Carles Gil and centre-back Sidnei Rechel are ready to play too. The Valencian winger was having muscle problems on last week, but he is already recovered, while the Brazilian defender missed the last two games due to a muscle injury, and he joined the trainings on this week.

As it’s normal, the team has been training with some Fabril’s members taking part during the sessions, among them Óscar, Edu Expósito and Nacho Monsalve. But the novelty on this week was to see Juvenil A centre-back Mujaid Sadick training with the group during Tuesday and Wednesday.

Valencia CF arrive to the meeting with a feeling of calm after the team started to react with the arrival of Voro, however the storm remains around the corner. Los Che have lost two of the last three meetings and are only three points above Deportivo, so a new defeat will put them back into the direct fight to avoid demotion.

The coach is having important casualties for the meeting; playmaker Rodrigo (ankle fracture) and winger Nani (adductor) are out injured, while centre-back Eliaquim Mangala is out suspended after been sent off in the past game with FC Barcelona. Midfielder Mario Suárez is doubtful with a back problem. Meanwhile, Midfielder Santi Mina is recovered from a muscle injury that didn’t allow him to play against Barca. Goalkeeper Jaume Doménech was dragging muscle issues, but should be available for Sunday.

The Valencian team had six players playing with their national teams, there were worries as it was reported that centre-back Aymen Abdennour sustained an injury with Tunisia, but he already joined the team and will be available for the game with Depor. Argentine midfielder Enzo Pérez and Chilean winger Fabián Orellana joined the team until Friday and it still to be seen if they are going to be starters.

In midweek, the rival is Granada CF; the team of Lucas Alcaraz is close to give up and needs results now, so the game at the Riazor is a final for them. They don’t casualties at this point, only the doubt of striker Adrián Ramos (muscle problem) and centre midfielder Mehdi Carcela (thigh).

Different is that situation at Sevilla CF, the Andalusian club is pending of the exit of sporting director Monchi and sees how the recent negative results have been followed by a plague of injuries. And it’s that up to six men will miss the game with Depor on next weekend, including the most recent sensation Stevan Jovetic, who is out for two weeks with a Soleus injury. The other players injured are centre-backs Adil Rami (muscle) and Gabriel Mercado (thigh), left-back Benoît Trémoulinas, winger Krohn-Dehli (both knee ligaments) plus striker Carlos Fernández (knee concussion)
