THINKING OF CA OSASUNA

29 Apr 2017
Two teams with different situations collide at El Sadar, one is about to reach the salvation, while the other says good-bye to Primera. And both face the meeting with several casualties due to the injuries.

Deportivo are about to reach the salvation and the game against CA Osasuna (El Sadar, Sunday, 12h00 CET) might be definitive. The last defeat with Real Madrid left an open wound, but the damage could be partially repaired with the three points.

The big loss with Real Madrid also left a problem regarding the players that will be available for the game. Coach Pepe Mel witnessed how four players ended the midweek game with problems: winger Carles Gil (groin), striker Joselu (Achilles), goalkeeper German Lux (thigh) and centre-back Sidnei Rechel (adductor)

These four players didn’t train on Thursday and Friday and it’s already confirmed that Sidnei and Joselu won’t be available for Sunday’s game. Actually, Joselu won’t play in the remaining on the season as the scans detected a tear in the Achilles tendon on his right leg.

Pedro Mosquera is also out of the game too due to a thigh injury. In the cases of Lux and Carles Gil they will undergo a late test on Saturday in order to know if the duo can travel to Pamplona, so the coach could end up with only eighteen players available.

After the defeat with Real Madrid, Mel was so upset that even hinted that he might use Fabril’s players for this game, on Thursday he had a long conversation inside and outside the pitch with the players, and he seemed very upset, but in the end it will only remain as a menace, because in the last two training sessions the only academy lads training with the first team were midfielder Edu Expósito, winger Óscar García and centre-back Nacho Monsalve, trio that’s used to train with the team in midweek and later perform for Depor B during the weekend.

At CA Osasuna, Los Rojillos are already demoted to Segunda, this is the first game for them after confirmed the demotion and, as it’s understandable, there’s a big disappointment for the poor season made. Coach Petar Vasiljević is facing countless injuries and has been forced to count with academy players in order to fill the gaps.

Right now, seven players are out of the meeting with Depor: centre-back Tano Bonnín (fibula fracture), centre-backs Miguel Flaño (knee ligaments) and David García (quadriceps), attacker Emmanuel Rivière (muscle), centre midfielders Didier Digard (knee) and Raoul Loé (muscle) plus striker Oriol Riera (adductor).

Right-back Javier Flaño recently received the medical okay to play after been out for eight months due to a knee injury, but he won’t be a starter in this game as he is missing pace.  Meanwhile centre-back Nikola Vujadinović is doubtful with a muscle issue.
