DEPOR LADIES: BUILDING UP THE NEW SQUAD

24 Jun 2017
The female squad of Deportivo already has 18 players for the new season, the latest addition is Iris Arnaiz, who is now the fifth professional player at the squad.

Things are moving faster at Depor Ladies compared to the male section of Deportivo, coach Manu Sánchez already saw how the club made four signings ahead of next season and his team is already composed by eighteen players.

The goal for next season will continue to be the promotion to Liga Iberdrola and the signings made so far are a proof that the club is betting in the promotion. The last addition to the squad is centre midfielder Iris Arnaiz Gil, she is 23 and was one of the best players at Oviedo Moderno, precisely the only team that ended above Depor Ladies on the previous campaign.

The club trusts so much in her that it turned into the fifth professional player at the squad. At the beginning of the year the club signed Venezuelans Kika Moreno and Gaby García, while the first three signings made during the summer were centre-back Silvia Mérida Ramírez (19), attacker Ainize Barea Núñez "Peke" (25) and left-back Patricia Díaz Rúa (19).

More signings are expected in  squad that should have 22-23 players for the new campaign, though coach Manu Sánchez announced that the 70% of the squad is the base from the previous campaign. The team will begin the pre-season on July 18.

Squad so far for next season:
Goalkeepers: Anita & Malena
Defenders: Raquel, Patri Rúa, Silvia Mérida, Cris, Miga & Miriam.
Midfielders: Tere Abelleira, Gere, Maria Corral, Kika Moreno, Iris Amaiz & Lia.
