Pepe Mel started to prepare the new season mixing physical training with tactical exercises. Two injury cases were already reported.

Deportivo started the pre-season with six training session in only four days. Coach Pepe Mel has been mixing physical exercises with tactical work, a very similar approach to the one made by Gaizka Garitano on last season.

The tougher session so far took place on Saturday as it lasted two hours with the players completing resilience exercises. Previously they also faced strength exercises, physical routines and completed the first medical tests on the season.

At the same time, the coach is already working tactical aspects trying to polish some concepts and transmit his ideas to the players from the academy that are working with the team. One of the tactical novelties on this week was to see Borja Valle been tested as a right-back defender, a reconversion that the coach is working as a possibility after the exit of Laure.

The first week of trainings already caused the first two victims in terms of injuries. The first one was Fabril’s striker Borja Galán, who picked a grade I muscle injury that will keep him at bay for two weeks, for this reason Mel picked another striker from Fabril in order to fill the gap: Adrián Castro. He was recently promoted from Juvenil A.

The second injured player was Fede Cartabia, who suffered an inflammation on the Achilles muscle of his left leg. Also, left-back Luisinho has been training apart as he is the final phase of recovery from the ankle injury suffered at the end of last season.
