Deportivo will restart to compete in 2007 after a poor end on the year 2006. Six confrontations are waiting for the Galicians in January: four liga matches and the two-leg series against Mallorca for the copa del rey. Time to see a reaction or to continue with the debacle?

The Galicians are living one of their worst moments. After nine games without a win in la liga, Deportivo will restart the competition against one of the 'giants' in Spain: Real Madrid at the Riazor. The Madrilians are one of the best visitors with a record of six wins and only two defeats in this condition (0-1 Vs. Getafe and 1-2 Vs. Sevilla).

But Real Madrid seems to change every time they visit Riazor. Their last win in La Coru?±a occurred fifteen years ago (0-3 for the season 1991/1992), since then, they have suffered nine defeats in fourteen matches, including humiliating results like the 2-5 of the season 1999/2000.

The biggest novelty on this occasion will be the possible debut of Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higua?n with the Madrilians. In Deportivo the participation of Lopo is doubtful, while coach Caparr??s has confirmed that Valer??n won't take part in this match. the Canarian playmaker has returned to train with the first squad, but the Sevillan trainer doesn't want to take risk with him.

Three day later, Depor will continue with its participation in the copa del rey. This time the rival in the second round is RCD Mallorca. A team that counts on the presence of ex-Depor's marksman Diego Trist??n, plus some important offensive players like Maxi L??pez, Jankovic and Juan Arango.

Mallorca eliminated Deportivo on the last time that both teams faced each other in the copa del rey. It was in the semi-finals of the season 2002/2003. Two goals of Pandiani plus one from Eto'o gave them a 3-2 victory at the Riazor. The eliminatory consist of a two-leg series that will define who will pass to the quarterfinals. The first leg will take place at the Soin Moix stadium, one week later Mallorca will visit La Coru?±a.

The visit to Recreativo Huelva will occur in the middle of the copa eliminatory. Depor has only played twice against the Andalucian club in Primera. The only visit to the Nuevo Colombino stadium ended in a 1-1 draw in the season 2002/2003. This time Recreativo is living a sweet moment, they are occupying the seventh position and the media in Spain has labelled them as the main surprise in la liga, a nickname that was defended properly in their last game: 3-0 Vs. Real Madrid at the Bernabe??. But the record of Recreativo isn't too good at home. A condition in which they already lost three matches: 0-1 Vs. Levante, 1-2 Vs. Getafe and 1-3 Vs. Sevilla.

Deportivo will end the first round with the visit of RCD Espanyol to Riazor. The Catalans were one of the candidates to be fighting in the relegation zone, but coach Ernesto Valverde has been able to create a solid squad, a situation demonstrated with their latest results: only one defeat during the last twelve matches. Impressive results that includes a 2-1 win over Atl?©tico Madrid and a 1-0 victory in Getafe. This last result was very important since the goal scored by Tamudo is the only one allowed by keeper Abbondanzieri at home.

The month will end with the visit to La Romareda in order to play against Real Zaragoza. The team coached by V?ctor Fern??ndez is living a very good season, they are occupying the fifth position and their striking line is the third best one in la liga (28 goals scored). Their record at home is also positive, they have only allowed two defeats (1-2 Vs. Osasuna and 0-1 Vs. Valencia) and one draw (2-2 Vs Levante). Curiously, their two defeats at home have occurred during the last two matches.
