Fantastic year for Fabril, from spending several years at Tercera, the lads are now caressing La Liga 123. The team won 26 of the 40 games disputed in 2017 and only lost 3 times.

Fabril lived a happy and astonishing year in 2017, the team changed its official name from Deportivo B to Deportivo Fabril, and also changed its luck. Because, after six years at Tercera División, Depor’s lads clinched the promotion to Segunda B, and turned to be one of the surprises at group One of Segunda B currently lying at the second position only two points behind leaders CF Fuenlabrada, and with only two defeats suffered in the first round.

The record of the team is beyond impressive, in 2017 the lads played 40 official games (19 at Tercera División, 2 in the promotion playoff and 19 for Segunda División B) clinching 26 victories, 11 draws and only suffering 3 defeats.

The only three defeats of Fabril took place facing Arosa SC (1-3, February 4), San Sebastián Los Reyes (0-1, August 27) and AD Unión Adarve (0-3, November 12). The last two playing in the current Segunda B campaign.

All this great performance is based in a solid defence, because of the 40 official games played in 2017, the team clinched 27 clean sheets (68% of the total number of matches). This included to not concede goals in the promotion playoff series with CP Cacereño, plus in the tough visit to SD Ponferradina (0-1 win), one of the favourite sides before starting the season.

An important fact to have in mind is that the team kept the stability despite the drastic changes inside the squad, before this season the club reinforced the team with “veterans” and tried to keep the style of Cristóbal Parralo, but he had to leave to the first team, and his replacement was Gustavo Munúa, a very different coach that still delivering the results.

Also, during the first round at Segunda B, a plague of injuries has hit he team, to the point that in the last games Munúa was forced to have up to six Juvenil A players on the bench (five debuted this season with the team: Mujaid, Jorge Valín, Sergio Ortuño, Iago Gandoy and Pedro Alves). Still, the team stayed up at the standings.
