23 Jan 2018
New keeper Maksím Kóval completed the medicals on Monday and also talked to reporters. He is expecting to play and help Depor in the quest for the permanence.

Maksím Kóval completed the medicals on Monday’s morning, before he addressed the media. He needed an interpreter as he barely speaks English and the only phrase he could pronounce in Spanish was “Buenos días” He will join the trainings tomorrow.

Talking to reporters, he said to be content for joining Deportivo, “I am really happy to be here. I will do everything for the team. I will try to help the players in order to go up.”

Asked for been the fifth keeper on the season, the comment was, “I know. I have watched the games of Deportivo, those were good games and they have good keepers, but they weren’t lucky enough. But I hope everything can change and we will go up.”

Kóval was asked about his impressions on the game against Real Madrid, “Real Madrid plays crazy, because they overcome the goal of Depor. Depor played good, but I think they scored too early, they should have scored later.”

Then the Ukrainian was asked if he was already told if he will play against Levante, he answered that, “I am not thinking about that. Deportivo is a big team in Spain and I am really happy to be here. I want to help the players and the club. I will do everything in order to help the team. I know there’s criticism, sometimes they don’t talk about the errors as they are committed by other players, but the keepers are always under the radar.”

He was explaining the terms of his contract, “The contract said that, if Deportivo are able to stay at the elite, they will buy me. I’d propositions, but later the one of Depor arrived and I only thought about it for an hour. I talked with my family and my father asked me: do you want to play there? And I said: off course, it’s Depor.”

Finally, Kóval was asked about his knowledge of Deportivo, “I remember the games with Milan, crazy games, Roy Makaay played here. Everybody talks great things of the city and this is a big team in Spain. Of the keepers here I know Pantilimon and Tytoń. I also know Bruno Gama as he played at League Pro, I also know Lucas Pérez for playing against him. They are good players and will help me to settle here.”
