Depor announced on Monday the signing of Michael Krohn-Dehli. The Danish arrives in a transfer from Sevilla CF and signs a contract for 18 months.

Michael Krohn-Dehli is the most recent addition to Deportivo. On Monday the club announced that it reached an agreement with Sevilla CF for the transfer of the player, though the later report is that he rescinded his contract (it was ending in June). The player underwent the medicals late on Monday and is signing a contract for one and a half years.

The Danish midfielder is 34 and has a long experience in Spain, he spent three seasons at RC Celta (2012-2015), frame in which he only missed 13 liga games. His contract expired and decided to move to Sevilla CF, club where he spent the next three seasons.

It was a stage with ups and downs, the midfielder made 68 official appearances with the Andalusians and was part of the team that won the UEFA Europa League on the season 2015/16, but also suffered two serious knee injuries that reduced his participation with the team, the last one in January of 2017.

During the current season, the midfielder has made 13 appearances in liga (533 minutes) and 3 in the UEFA Champions League (140 minutes). His last game with Sevilla was on December 20 as he completed 81 minutes in the 1-3 loss visiting Real Sociedad, curiously he can be repeating the visit during his debut with Depor.

The general idea was that Deportivo were going to sign a defensive centre midfielder, but Krohn-Dehli is more an offensive and multifunctional choice. He has only scored four goals in his career in Spain, but is considered as an offensive centre midfielder that can also perform as a winger. So, it cannot be ruled out the option to have one more signing in this winter window.

To have in mind that the arrival of the Danish increases the number of players at the first team to 26, so at least one exit is needed. Krohn-Dehli is the third signing during the winter window after the zero-cost signing of right-back Eneko Bóveda and the loan of goalkeeper Maksím Kóval.
