DEPORTIVO IN FEBRUARY

31 Jan 2018
Deportivo remain playing with fire, it remains winless in 2017 and need result now. There are five liga meetings in the month, all of them against direct rivals.

The results aren’t arriving and the season of Deportivo is getting complicated, the Galicians need the points and February can be a good month to add them, mainly as there are five games against direct rivals that neither can drop points in their quest for the permanence.

The month starts on Friday with the visit to Real Sociedad. It has been a disappointing season for the Basques, they were targeting Europe, but arrive to the game after four straight defeats and are only six points above Depor. It’s highly probable that coach Eusebio Sacristán can be sacked in case of losing against the Galicians.

Then Depor will have a long week as the next game is coming until next Monday, and it’s the visit of Real Betis to the Riazor. The Andalusians are having a season with ups and downs, but cannot afford a bad streak as they are only ten points above the pit and want to avoid doubts in the last stretch of the tournament.

A final for Depor in the month is the visit to Alavés. The Basques are now coached by Abelardo and have improved their game, but the results have been mixed and currently they are only two points away from Depor, so the winner of this match will get a huge boost in the quest for the permanence.

February will end -and March will start- with a week of three games. The last rival in the month is the most stable one: Getafe CF. Depor will be visiting Madrid in midweek in order to face a team that’s adding and that already is closer to Europe than to relegation. The Madrilenians have only lost one of the last five games and want to keep their stability.
