Seedorf will be the third coach of Deportivo during the season. The Dutchman is the third option after Parralo was sacked. He will direct his first training session on Tuesday.

Clarence Clyde Seedorf is the new coach of Deportivo. The club reached the agreement on Sunday and the Dutchman will direct the first team until the end of the season. He was the third choice after Parralo was sacked, because the club tried first the arrival of Martin Lasarte and Diego Alonso, the first didn’t want the job and the second didn’t have the license to coach in Europe.

He will be the coach for the remaining of the season; the club didn’t report if the deal can be extended, though the papers believe he will stay in case of clinching the permanence. His assistant will be Valerio Fiori, a former keeper at AC Milan.

Seedorf is a well-known former player that won all the possible titles in Europe playing for Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan. But his career as a coach is more discrete. His experience as a coach is reduced to three short stages without great results.

The Dutchman was appointed the new head coach of AC Milan on 16 January 2014, and only four months later he was sacked despite the Italian giant added 35 of the 57 points disputed with him on the bench. (4th best mark at Serie A at the time).
Then Seedorf jumped to China. On 7 July 2016, he was named as the new manager of League One team Shenzhen F.C. He also failed there as the team was unable to clinch the promotion to the first tier and was replaced by Sven-Göran Eriksson five months later.

At the end of last year, he was about to become into the new manager of Brazilian club Atlético Paranaense; the role would see him act as both a coach and a sporting director, but the deal was cancelled after both parts failed to reach a final agreement.
