Deportivo showed its worst miseries in a game in which Seedorf failed with all his decisions. The Galician team is about to settle a new record of minutes without scoring a goal.

The six notes from the game at Getafe CF:

1- Same old Depor: Just when the fans wanted to have hope, Deportivo put them back into the cruel reality. Because this defeat came in the usual way for Depor, the Blanquiazul outfit played a serious game in the initial frame of the first half, and later fell down after committing the first error, again with the keeper leaving doubts, and again with a team that misses spirit and punch to lead a reaction. This Deportivo provokes indifference, because it continues to commit the same mistakes.

2- Clueless Seedorf: Only a few times a coach can miss the target with all his decisions, and this was one of them. In his three previous games Seedorf demonstrated to be a coach that doesn’t like to make changes, that’s why it was a surprise when Krohn-Dehli and Bakkali were starters leaving Andone on the bench, and with Pedro Mosquera acting as a playmaker. Nothing worked, Bakkali only lasted 30 minutes, Krohn-Dehli was disappeared and Mosquera was never a factor.

After the game the Dutchman tried to explain himself arguing that Guilherme and Andone had muscle issues and didn’t want to risk them; still, there were other options available. What the coach kept intact was the defence, right-footed Eneko Bóveda kept playing as the left component at the centre of the defence and was terrible, it’s a very polemic decision to have the Basque misplaced when Sidnei is healthy and waiting on the bench.  Another unexplained decision is why Rubén continues to be a starter when he offers so little confidence at the goal.

3- Failed experiment in attack: Seedorf tried to motivate the attack after the recent results, he removed a striker [Andone] and introduced a midfielder acting as a playmaker [Mosquera], but the experiment didn’t work. Mosquera was the second player with more touches on the field (73), but his pass ratio was not only the worse of the game, but also the worse of the season at Depor (67%). To make things worse, Adrián failed in all his dribbling attempts, while Lucas continued to be a ghost. Thus, Deportivo only completed one shot on target despite having the 58% of the ball possession.

4- Disaster for the new signings: New poor performance for the winter signings. Kóval didn’t even make it to the bench, Krohn-Dehli made his fourth appearance and again passed unnoticed (only 28 touches), Seedorf admitted that he was replaced at half-time for his poor performance. But the crown was for Bóveda, who scored an own goal, assisted a rival for the third goal and even received a yellow card.

Only Sulleyman Muntari had a sort of acceptable performance, mainly in the first half an hour as he seemed to control the traffic at midfield, but later the Ghanaian disappeared and demonstrated that he is far from his best form.

5- About to settle a negative record: The last goal of Deportivo was scored against Levante UD, minute 45, January 27). Since then the team has spent five games scoreless and already accumulates 495 minutes without scoring a goal, that’s only three minutes away from the negative record at the club: 498.

6- Twelve games without victories: Depor now accumulates eleven games without victories (three draws and eight defeats), this is the worst mark since the season 2015/16. At the time the team coached by Víctor Sánchez spent thirteen games without wins between December of 2015 and March of 2016.
