REVIEW: CELTA B 2 - FABRIL 0 (SEGUNDA B)

21 Jan 2019
New disappointment for a Fabril that’s already the last place at Segunda B. Pellicer used all his new signings, but the team is still lacking goals.

BEFORE THE GAME
Coach Sergio Pellicer was allowing the debut of Arturo Segado and Carlos Ramírez 'Leto'. The three winter signings were starters as Abeledo was also at the starting eleven. Jony Montiel and Víctor García were left on the bench.>

The draw was a 4-2-3-1 figure. Álex Cobo was the starting goalie, Fornos covered the right side in defence, Valín played on the left, Raúl González and Steve One were the centre-backs. Gaizka Martínez and Javi Cobo were the centre midfielders, Abeledo attacked from the left wing, Segado did it from the right, Leto was the playmaker and Uxío Dapena was the centre forward.

At RC Celta B, coach Rubén Albésdidn’t count with Dennis Eckert as he is now playing with the first team, while Ricardo Mangana was in international duty with U-17 Venezuela. Iban Salvador and Emmanuel Apeh were the references in attack.

THE MATCH
New defeat for a Fabril that didn’t play a bad game, but that still paying the price for not scoring goals. They had a great chance to claim the lead at the start of the second half and, after wasting it, the lads allowed twice in a matter of eight minutes.

The first chance in the game was for Fabril, Valín got the ball at the left corner of the area, he dribbled a rival and his strong shot hit the net by the outside (5’). Two minutes later Celta B responded with a low shot of Bermejo that was blocked by Álex Cobo.

With the passage of the minutes Celta B had the ball possession under control, but later missed depth to create opportunities. Meanwhile, Fabril had problems to combine at midfield, but at least had a new chance as minute 16 with Uxío heading a free-kick with the attempt been blocked by local goalie Iván Villar.

Abeledo turned to be the best player at Fabril, his presence at the right wing gave a lot of problems to the local defence. Still, the game was boring as it lacked excitement and scoring opportunities. At minute 35, the locals made a good collective play at the edge of the area, but the shot of Pastrana was blocked.

Fabril had the last two chances in the half, in the first Gaizka Martinez fired a volley from the edge of the area that was blocked by Villar (41’), five minutes later Abeledo missed the target firing from the edge of the area.

The second half started with a blocked shot of Solis (46’), in the resulting corner-kick Pastrana sent the ball out. Fabril was having a better control of the ball, but the locals continued to have chances. At minute 50, Diego Alende attempted from midfield territory and his volley almost surprised Álex Cobo.

Fabril should have scored at minute 56, it was a counterattack with Abeledo running with the ball from midfield and into the area, but his crossed shot just passed close to the far post. That wasted opportunity was going to be really expensive for Fabril. Because then the locals found the first goal, Alberto Solis found the ball at the edge of the area and his strong shot went into the top-right corner of Álex Cobo.

There was no reaction from Fabril despite Víctor García replaced Raúl González, actually Celta B was close to score again with a direct free-kick of Pastrana that Álex Cobo repealed (66’), but that second goal arrived four minutes later.Álex Cobo made a bad pass in a goal kick, then Solis collected a pass from Bermejo inside the area to cross the keeper.

Pellicer ordered the last two substitutions an Bicho and Montiel replaced Gaizka Martinez and Javi Cobo, but Fabril were already defeated. Their next chance in the last fame of the game was a wide shot of Semedo (77’). Víctor García could have scored in the added time, but his header hot the crossbar.

AFTER THE GAME
Many changes at Fabril and three new signings, two of them debuting, but the outcome of the same as the lads lacked goal and ended losing the derby. The situation remains complicated as Fabril is the last place in the group, now ten points away from safety. On next Sunday, the team hosts leader CF Fuenlabrada (Abegondo, 12h00 CET).
