PISCU IS NEAR TO BE A PROFESSIONAL

09 Jan 2008
The Fabril's contract of youngster Adri??n L??pez 'Piscu' stipulates that if the player fulfils fifteen games with the first squad, the defender will immediately become a member of Depor's first team until the year 2010. This mark of fifteen games will be reached on Sunday, day in which Deportivo visits Villarreal at El Madrigal.

Despite the bad moment lived by Deportivo in la liga, the good news are arriving through the progress of the youngsters. And the symbol of all this is Adri??n L??pez 'Piscu'. The Fabril's central defender was called by Lotina in order to cover the absence of Lopo for the liga visit to Espanyol. Depor lost the match at  the Montjuic, but Lotina was impressed with the level of Piscu.

After this match, the Galician youngsters didn't return to Fabril, instead he kept training with the first squad. And Piscu was a starter during  the following twelve liga games and also took part of the first-leg in copa against Espanyol. Within the last three months, the 20-year-old central defender only missed to participate in the second-leg in copa and was called for the first time to Spain's U-21 squad.

Now, Piscu accumulates thirteen games in Primera Divisi??n and one in copa, his contract with Fabril stipulates that if he reaches the mark of fifteen official games with the first squad, then he will gain a professional contract, a fact that will be fulfilled if he plays at El Madrigal against Villarreal. Curiously, the origin of all this was the injury of Lopo, and the Catalan is now fit to play and will probably be included in the list of called players for Sunday's game.

According to newspaper La Voz de Galicia, Piscu is earning €1,000 per season, but with his new professional contract, his new wages will reach the €95,000 per campaign. Besides, his contract will be automatically extended until the year 2010. The last player that passed from been a Fabril's member to a first squad component was Iago Iglesias (May of 2006), but the midfielder didn't enjoy of continuity with Caparr??s and Lotina ended discarding him, at the end Iago was transferred to Elche in Segunda Divisi??n.

Despite his life is about to change, Adri??n L??pez keeps the same humble mentality about his situation at Deportivo, as he talked on Tuesday with La Voz: "When they talk about the possibility of been a professional, what I think is that nobody could predict this. I was just happy training with the first squad. Therefore I don't give importance to the fact of becoming a professional. The circumstances that I am living at this point are exactly the same ones of my first game, in other words, the casualties of my team mates. What happens is that this cases were longer than we expected, it was something surprising. For the moment, I think that nothing has changed, and that I'm still a player from the B squad. My situation hasn't changed at all. I have clear this fact and I will continue working."

Piscu also joked about his transformation into a professional player "I will invite my partners at Fabril to something. Because all of this is thanks to them, But that only in the case that I play, off course..." Later he said in a more serious tone that the most important thing is to achieve the win at El Madrigal "The important thing is the victory, my case is secondary."
