Unusual week for Deportivo, the suspension of the game with FC Reus left the team with a week of relaxation after the storm brought with the defeat against UD Las Palmas.

Relaxation week in the middle of panic mode. The defeat against UD Las Palmas raised the pessimism among the fans, even the continuity of coach Natxo González was put in doubt, tough sporting director Carmelo Del Pozo cleared the ghosts on Thursday. Now the team wants to move on and has a week off to clear up the mind.

Since the game at FC Reus is suspended, the team will not return to compete until next Friday hosting UD Almeria (Riazor, 21h00 CET). Natxo González is using the week as a mental exercise to lift the spirit of the squad.

For this reason, the routine has changed. There won’t be video sessions and neither tests with systems on this week, instead the players have been only completing physical routines and some tactical work, then the team will rest during the weekend and will return until Monday, this time with the tactical preparation for the following match.

The defeat with UD Las Palmas is not only leaving pain and the missed chance to add three points, but also the problem of losing two players due to suspension: Edu Expósito and Diego Caballo. The midfielder was sent off and received a two-match suspension. The club will appeal, but the player will surely miss the next game with UD Almeria. In the case of the left-back, he saw the fifth yellow card of the season.

And there’s more, winger Nahuel Leiva left the game with a knock, the club only reported a knock on his right adductor muscle and it isn’t clear if he will be available for next Friday. The players that will surely be out for injury reasons are Michael Krohn-Dehli (Achilles) and Carlos Fernández (muscle), both should be joining the group in the coming weeks.

Finally, the case of Vitor Silva, the midfielder was presented this week and already joined the group, but it isn’t clear if he will be picked for the game against UD Almeria as he is lacking pace for not playing a game since last season. Still, the absence of Edu Expósito and Krohn-Dehli might be enough to pull him into the roster.
