THINKING OF UD ALMERIA

21 Mar 2019
Depor will try to bounce back at the Riazor, but will be missing Edu Expósito and Diego Caballo due to suspension. Krohn-Dehli and Carlos Fernández are progressing, but won’t arrive in time for the game.

Deportivo return into competition as it hosts UD Almeria (Friday, Riazor, 21h00 CET). The Galicians are still hurt after the home loss with UD Las Palmas, and the fans are already having the idea that the dream promotion will have to pass through the playoff. The team is also trying to clear the ghost of the recent bad results at the Riazor.

And there isn’t good news for coach Natxo González as, once again, there are multiple casualties for the game. Midfielder Edu Expósito and left-back Diego Caballo are both suspended, while midfielder Michael Krohn-Dehli (Achilles) and striker Carlos Fernández (muscle) are progressing from their injuries, but are not yet recovered and are pending to join the group (Carlos completed part of the session with the group during Wednesday’s session).

These are the four confirmed casualties for the game, at least there aren’t more after some players were having issues during the week off. Striker Quique González skipped the first sessions on the week after been dragging a muscle problem, but he joined the group on Wednesday. Also, winger Nahuel Leiva and midfielder Vitor Silva are recovered from the knocks and will be available for the meeting.

At UD Almería, the team is only four points away from the promotion zone and sees the meeting as a good chance to reduce the distance with a rival for the dream of promotion. The Andalusians are the best defence in 2019 after only allowing 5 goals in 11 meetings.

For the game, coach Fran Fernández is missing striker Ermedin Demirović, who is skipping the game for been concentrated with U-21 Bosnia-Herzegovina ahead of the U-21 Euro qualifiers. But centre-back Juan Fernández ‘Ibiza’ is available after missing the game with Granada CF due to suspension.
