REVIEW: CULTURAL 4 – FABRIL 0 (SEGUNDA B)

06 May 2019
Fabril held for an hour against a team pushing to enter into the playoff zone, later it fell down and ended suffering its biggest defeat of the season.

BEFORE THE GAME
Luisito was having the casualty of Guillermo May and Bicho, duo that was injured and was recovering Raúl González. Juvenil A player Víctor Eimil was picked for the game and was on the bench.

Pedro López covered the goal, Jorge Valín played at the right side of the defence, Lucas Viña did it at the left, the centre-backs were Mujaid Sadick, Steve One and Raúl González. Javi Cobo and Iago Gandoy were the midfielders, then Víctor García, Jonathan Montiel and Ignacio Abeledo composed the trident in attack.

The rival was Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, a team desperate to add the three points as it lost two of the previous three games, reason why they were out of the promotion zone.  The coach is ex-Depor José Manuel Aira, who also has two ex-Depor strikers as the references in attack: Dioni and Aridane, only the first was a starter in the game.

THE MATCH
Fabril made a decent game for an hour, it counteracted the intensity of the rival and even had chances to claim the lead. The game started with a shot of Zelu that was blocked by Pedro López (3’). The locals pressed hard within the first half and hour, but Fabril were holding on and even had its opportunities.

Jonathan Montiel was the main threat at Fabril, at minute 10 his strong shot passed close to the crossbar, and later also starred in the biggest opportunity in the game for the Galicians as his free-kick hit the crossbar (23’).

In the middle of both actions Dioni could have scored deflecting a cross from Liberto that was saved by Lucas Viña at the goal line (15’). Then the game was more paused, with Cultural having control of the ball possession, but unable to create scoring chances.

Their next opportunity was a new shot of Zelu that went over the crossbar (31’). Fabril also tried from time to time and their next approximation was a shot of Víctor García that went close to the far post of local goalie Carlos Morales (29’).

The game turned to be a nightmare in the second half, little by little Fabril started to lose stamina and the turning point was the first goal. After a clear chance in which Liberto Beltrán missed the target (59’), the same player collected a cross from the left, he dribbled three defenders inside the area and released a strong shot into the far post of Pedro López.

Gaizka Martínez replaced Raúl González and everything fell apart as Luisito switched the draw into a 4-2-3-1, Uxío entered for Javi Cobo, the striker was now the reference in attack and Gaizka was moved to midfield, only a few minutes later the second goal arrived.

Dioni collected the ball inside the area and scored through a drilling shot after dribbling three passive rivals. Salles-Lamonge entered for Iago Gandoy only to witness he third goal. Pablo Vázquez headed a cross during a corner-kick from Hugo Rodríguez.

And there was room for a fourth goal as substitute Yeray González converted a penalty. It was a doubtful foul of Mujaid when he was facing Dioni after a counterattack started by Jiménez.
