THINKING OF CÓRDOBA CF

07 Jun 2019
Quique González won’t be available for the last game of the regular season; the rival arrives with massive problems after confirming their relegation.

Deportivo close the regular season knowing that its destiny is at their own hands. The Galicians will take part of the promotion playoff if they are able to defeat Córdoba CF (Riazor, Saturday, 20h30 CET). They will even qualify if they draw and if Cádiz CF draw or lose against Extremadura UD.

There is some concern as the team only has four days to prepare the game, something that coach José Luis Martí already warned during the post-game press conference of the meeting against Elche CF. The good news is that only two players are dealing with physical problems, the bad news is that one of them is the top-scorer at the team.

Quique González trained apart on Thursday and is unlikely that he will be available for the meeting. The striker had to be replaced during the game against RCD Mallorca due to a hamstring problem and should be available on next week if Depor qualify for the playoff. The other player out is Michael Krohn-Dehli (Achilles).

Córdoba CF arrive to the meeting already relegated and with four more days of rest as they faced CA Osasuna last Friday, but they are dealing with massive problems due to physical issues affecting the team and for a lack of will to play the game. Coach Rafa Navarro hinted that some of the players don’t want to take part of the meeting and for that reason he had to pull lads from the B team.

Centre-back Luis Muñoz is suspended, then there are four men injured: Centre-back Álex Quintanilla (ankle sprain), left-back Luis Miguel Quezada (knock), playmaker Miguel de las Cuevas (adductor muscle) and midfielder Álvaro Aguado (muscle). Also, centre midfielder Blati Touré and striker José Ángel Carrillo were already released and won’t play in the last game.

Striker Andrés Martín is the only man that was dragging issues and that was picked for the game. In the end coach Rafa Navarro had to pick six players from the academy in order to fill the gaps. The roster was released since Thursday as the team will make a long trip via bus.
