Depor completed the slots at the left-back position with the arrival of Luis Ruiz, an Andalusian defender that has struggled to find a starting role at his past clubs.

On Monday, Deportivo announced the signing of left-back Luis Ruiz Savago. The 26-year-old defender arrives as a free-agent and pends a one-year contract with the option of an additional year. He joined the trainings on Monday. This was a necessary reinforcement as the left-back position only had the presence of Diego Caballo, now all the positions are covered by at least two men.

Luis Ruiz is a left-back that has found problems to find stability as a normal starter. Been 21 he was playing for CD Leganés at Segunda B during the campaign 2013/14. It was until the final part of the season that he earned the confidence of coach Asier Gartiano and he ended been a starter in the six playoff games that took his team to Segunda A.

In the following two seasons he only managed to appear in 27 opportunities at Segunda, because Soriano was the first choice of Garitano. The Madrilenians clinched the promotion to Primera and the Andalusian defender was released; he landed at Cádiz CF and had the same problem as Brian Oliván was the preferred choice of coach Álvaro Cervera. In the end he only made 13 appearances.

And from there he jumped to CD Lugo ahead of the campaign 2017/18, he finally found a chance as a normal starter at the left side of the defence making 26 appearances for a team that ended 12th at the standings. That was his best mark in his career during one single season. But he lost that role one year later with the ascension of Vasyl Kravets, the Ukrainian was transferred during the winter window, but Ruiz only managed to make 16 appearances in the remaining of the Segunda season, mainly because he was dragging an injury.

Luis Ruiz is the seventh signing for Deportivo ahead of the Segunda season 2019/20. The previous reinforcements that joined the club are goalkeeper Koke Vegas, centre-back Vassilios Lampropoulos, winger Borja Galán, playmakers Ager Aketxe and Gaku Shibasaki, plus striker Mamadou Koné.
