Cádiz CF increased their lead in the league to ten points after their three chasers were unable to win. CD Lugo were the big winners at the bottom and Depor remain winless.

Only one third of the Segunda tournament has been played, but Cádiz CF is each day more favourite to seal one of the direct tickets to Primera. In a matchday where the locals prevailed (7 of the 11 games were won by the local team), the Andalusians dispatched Sporting Gijón at home (3-1) and increased their lead at the top to ten points.

And it’s that their three chasers were unable to win their games, UD Almería didn’t pass from a goalless draw at Real Oviedo, while Fuenlabrada CF only got a point hosting bottom side Deportivo (1-1). Similar scenario for fourth place SD Huesca as they only got a goalless draw at CD Tenerife.

The big winner was Real Zaragoza, Los Maños trashed UD Las Palmas (3-0) and jumped into the fifth position. Albacete Balompié fell into the sixth spot after losing in their visit to CD Numancia (1-0). SD Ponferradina is now seventh, only one point below the promotion places, this after a second straight win, on this matchdays they beat Málaga CF at home (1-0).

AD Alcorcón are also in a good moment after spending four matchdays without losing, in this opportunity they beat Racing Santander (1-0) and jumped into the ninth place, only two points below the playoff positions.

The situation at the top of the standings:

place team points GF GA
1 Cádiz 34 23 11
2 Almeria 24 21 13
3 Fuenlabrada 24 19 14
4 Huesca 23 14 9
5 Zaragoza 22 20 16
6 Albacete 22 10 15
7 Ponferradina 21 20 15
8 Numancia 21 16 12

It was another disappointing matchday for the teams at the bottom, the exception was CD Lugo. The Galicians beat Rayo Vallecano at home (1-0) and left the drop zone. Elche CF also got some fresh air after starring in the game with more goals in the matchday: a 4-2 win over CD Mirandés.

Deportivo remain at the bottom as they have now spent thirteen matchdays without adding the three points. It was also a bad weekend for Extremadura UD after been the lonely home team that lost on the weekend: 1-3 Vs. Girona CF, though they are only one point below safety.

The situation at the bottom of the standings:

place team points GF GA
18 Oviedo 14 18 21
19 Málaga 14 11 14
20 Extremadura 13 14 20
21 Racing 11 14 18
22 Deportivo 10 13 24

Another test for leaders Cádiz CF as they visit Rayo Vallecano, the Madrilenians have lost the last two games and need to find the victory again. Another interesting game is the visit of fifth place Real Zaragoza to runners-up UD Almeria, while third place Fuenlabrada CF travel to Málaga CF. Deportivo will host Elche CF as the Galicians try to end their traumatic winless streak.

The matchday is completed with other seven games: Girona FC Vs. CD Tenerife; SD Huesca Vs. Real Oviedo; CD Mirandés Vs. Extremadura UD; Albacete Balompié Vs. CD Lugo; Sporting Gijón Vs. CD Numancia; UD Las Palmas VS. AD Alcorcón & Racing Santander Vs. SD Ponferradina.
