Luis César won’t have a right-back defender available for the game, while he had to listen the complaints of Christian Santos for not playing.

The winless streak of Deportivo continues and the end of the first round can now be seen in the horizon, but the coach and the players prefer to see the bright side and keep the speech that the team is “improving”, not so much to win a game, but at least to cut the bleeding of goals, and now they want to end the negative period in the visit of Elche CF to the Riazor (Sunday, 12h00 CET).

And coach Luis César Sampedro is having problems in defence just when the team is not conceding too much. Eneko Bóveda saw the fifth card of the season in the visit to Fuenlabrada CF and is now the first suspended player in the league tournament.

And his absence coincides with the news that David Simón will need surgery. The Canarian defender picked a knock on the right thigh before the game at Cádiz CF (September 21). The club never gave further explanations with the scans, and now it was known that the problem has turned into a groin injury that the player had decided to face through surgery, which means that he will be out for three more months.

Without a natural right-back at the first team, Luis César has two options. The first is to play with Borja Galán there, the ex-Fabril has played in that position in punctual moments of this season, actually last week the coach was admitting that he is “vital” at the bench for this reason. The other option is to play with Fabril’s right-back, Jorge Valín. The 19-year-old defender was a starter in the visit to UD Las Palmas (October 13), and despite the heavy defeat, he had an acceptable performance.

In other news, Michelle Somma is finally training with the group after bene out since September due to a knee sprain, but it isn’t probable that he could have minutes in this game. Left-back Luis Ruiz also remains sidelined after suffering a relapse from an adductor injury.

The other issue on the spotlight was the complaints of Christian Santos for not having minutes, the Venezuelan attacker said on Thursday that he doesn’t receive the same treatment than others, but Luis César wasn’t impressed at all as he answered hours later, “He is a player who doesn't have the minutes he wants; he thinks he has to play more and others have to play less in his position. He thinks he has to play more minutes than other teammates. I think he is not right, but nothing happens, in football you have to manage the egos of all players, inside the changing room there are personalities of all kinds, characters of all kinds.”

Elche CF have had decent start to the season, now the Valencians want to climb some positions as they are at the same distance of relegation than to promotion (5 points). Coach José Rojo’Pacheta’ is having problems at midfield as two of his centre midfielders are out of the game at the Riazor

Ramón Folch (thigh) and Nuke Mfulu (adductor) are out injured, so the only players for those positions that are available are Manuel Sánchez and Gonzalo Villar. There are other players with physical issues, winger Josan Ferrández and attacker Yacine Qasmi, but they should be fit for Sunday.
