EL FLACO IS READY TO RETURN

22 Jan 2008
Valer??n has finally obtained the approval of the doctors in order to return into action. The Canarian playmaker will train today with normality although it isn't expected his participation in the liga game against Valladolid. El Flaco talked on Tuesday about his situation and said that he's feeling fine and ready to play.

Midfielder Juan Carlos Valer??n is set to return after two years struggling with a knee injury, the Canarian playmaker has suffered several complications, but now the doctors have approved his return to the pitch. On Tuesday, doctors Rafa Mart?n Acero and Ram??n Barral checked the case of Valer??n and they expressed their satisfaction with the evolution of his problem, therefore the doctors decided to allow the normal participation of the player in the trainings starting in today's session.

El Flaco attended to a press conference on Tuesday's evening and assured that he's feeling fine and ready to return "The fact the doctors have gave me their approval means that I am prepared to play." However, he wants to be cautious about his evolution "At this point, I am just starting a period in which I need to win confidence and reach a top physical level. Right now is the team who can help me, and not me who can help the team."

It isn't expected the participation of the Canarian playmaker in the next liga game against Valladolid, mainly because Valer??n has just made some exercises with the group during the past week, he still need to find the rhythm. However it's expected that he will be entering in the list of called players for the liga matches to be played during February.

The left-knee injury suffered by Valer??n occurred precisely two years ago -January 22nd 2006- it was during a liga confrontation against RCD Mallorca at the Riazor, the ex-Atletico player broke a ligament in his knee and missed the rest of the season 2005/2006. He returned for the following campaign but unluckily, he suffered a complication in the same region during the pre-season stage at Isla Canela (July 2006).

And one year ago, he started to feel instability in the injured knee after a few days training with the team, the doctors decided that a new surgery was required. Reason why he was operated two months later. Now, the problems is resolved and it seems that finally, the magic is returning to the Riazor.
