Athenea changed the game in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to rescue a point. Depor Ladies lost the third place at the standings.

Athenea del Castillo was back after missing two games due to mumps. Coach Manu Sánchez also recovered Maya Yamamoto and this time Miriam Rios was out inured. There was a new change at the goal as Esther Sullastres returned to the starting formation.

A game with two halves and two different stories. In the first the locals played better and deserved the lead, in the second Athenea del Castillo entered the field and the Galicians deserved the tie, but they lost the game and also lost the third place.

The locals were strong since the kick-off. Claudia Zornoza had the first chance to score for the locals with a shot blocked by Sullastres (2’), five minutes later Depor’s keeper made the save against Rocio Gálvez in a corner-kick action.

Claudia Zornoza had a new chance at minute 15, but his shot from the edge of the area went over the crossbar. The local pressure continued as the ball was barely lasting in the boots of Depor Ladies. Alba Redondo should have scored at minute 22, but she missed the target from close range after a pass from Ana Batlle.

The first chance for the Ladies came at minute 24, it was a counterattack that ended with Tere Abelleira sending the ball over the crossbar. After this opportunity, the locals started to lose intensity. They were no longer putting a high pressure and Depor breath, though the visiting side misses spark in attack.

But Levante UD were going to find the deserved reward of the goal before the break. First Estefania Banini met the woodwork firing from long range (42’), and one minute before the break Gemma Gini drilled a pass that Alba Redondo converted past Sullastres.

The second half had a more balanced start, the Ladies were pushing in attack and had to face the counterattack from the locals. At minute 49, a high cross from Michelle Romero was cleared by local goalie Andreea Părăluță.

Manu Sánchez saw that his team was missing spark and sent Athenea del Castillo to replace Michelle Romero, and in her first appearance she was about to tie the game with a shot from the edge of the area that went close to the post (62’).

Suddenly Depor turned to be the best team on the pitch, at minute 64, neither Gaby nor Tere Abelleira were able to end a good play in attack, in the counterattack Alba Redondo headed the ball over the bar.

But Depor Ladies were the ones having the more and the best chances, at minute 66, Andreea Părăluță made a double save against the attempts of Gaby and Athenea.  At minute 72, Tere Abelleira was close to score with a direct free-kick saved by the local goalie.

Another big chance to tie the game came at minute 79, Athenea found the ball inside the area after a cross of Peke and his crossed shot passed close to the post. Maya Yamamoto entered for Alba Merino, but there weren’t more opportunities to score.
