Fernando Vázquez prepares his debut in a club distracted by several issues, including a new financial deal. Emre Çolak arrived, but he won’t play in this game.

New atypical week at Deportivo. The team returned from the Christmas break only to find out that president Paco Zas and coach Luis César Sampedro were gone. For two days they had to work with Alejandro Esteve, Marcos Marcén and Yván Castillo, the staff that has been at the club since the arrival of Anquela.

Then Fernando Vázquez was announced and the third coach on the season has been directing the trainings since Monday. His debut will take place for the visit to CD Numancia (Los Pajaritos, Sunday, 12h00 CET).

Another “new face” is the trainings is Emre Çolak, the first signing for the winter window is training with the team since Wednesday, but he won’t debut in the game with CD Numancia, instead will have to wait for next weekend game in Copa against Unionistas.

David Simón (groin) and Gaku Shibasaki (hamstring) will continue sidelined. Striker Borja Valle suffered a nose blow during the first session after the break and underwent scans, but it wasn’t a serious case and the player re-joined the trainings. A third casualty for the game is midfielder Vicente Gómez, who is suspended with five yellow cards.

To complete the feeling of atypical week, the club signed on Thursday a highly anticipated deal with ABANCA that’s the strength of future president Fernando Vidal, the club will maintain silence until next week about this issue, and even the players have barely addressed the media after returning from the break. The only press conferences held by players were the ones of Çolak during his presentation and Bóveda on Friday.

At CD Numancia, the team seems 2020 with good eyes after ending the past year with a victory at Cádiz CF that put the team in promotions seats. Coach Luis Miguel Carrión is having two important doubts for the game.

Centre-backs Alberto Escassi (groin) and Carlos Gutiérrez (knee) aren’t training with the team and will probably skip the game. In the case of Gutiérrez, it is commented that he had offers to leave during the winter window,

Another centre-back at the team, Admonio Vicente, has been out since the pre-season due to muscle problems, while playmaker Alain Oyarzun joined the training on Monday after surpassing a knock; still, he has only played six games on this season, including 16 minutes in the first round game at the Riazor.
