MATCHDAY 26: BAD DAY AT THE TOP

05 Feb 2020
The leaders are having problems to keep their positions and this matchday was a new proof of it. Albacete are in relegation as a consequence of their terrible run.

Matchday 26 demonstrated that the leaders at Segunda are not living a good moment and this situation could hurt their promotion aspirations. Cádiz CF needed a late penalty to rescue the draw hosting Real Zaragoza (1-1). The Andalusians have only won one of their last seven games, though at least the result helped them to keep the six-point gap with the Aragonians.

Neither good is the moment of UD Almería. They were climbing, but now they have reduced the pace after only adding one point within the last two games. In this matchday they were leading CD Numancia, but a late penalty cost them a point (1-1).

Meanwhile. SD Huesca suffered a severe blow visiting SD Ponferradina. They lost 3-1 and also lost the third spot. CF Fuenlabrada is the other club falling down, in this matchday they lost at home facing Girona CF (0-1) and are out of the promotion zone for the first time since matchday 05. The Madrilenians have now spent eight games without winning.

This result helped Girona FC to reach the sixth position. The other big winner was Elche CF, side that jumped into the fifth position thanks to their 2-0 win over Málaga CF. CD Mirandés and UD Las Palmas missed a good chance to reach the playoff zone, CD Mirandés could only add a goalless draw hosting Rayo Vallecano, while the Canarians lost at the Riazor facing Deportivo (2-1).
