REVIEW: FABRIL 1 – BERGANTIÑOS 1 (TERCERA)

03 Mar 2020
Fabril only played good football in the first half, later Bergantiños CF was better and had opportunities to win the game. The lads remain out of the promotion seats.

BEFORE THE GAME
The game was played as the Riazor as a “second show” for the people attending to the game of Depor against CD Lugo. Around 1,500 fans stayed at the stands. Coach Luisito was missing Mujaid Sadick, who played with the first team minutes before. The team returned to the 4-2-3-1 formation with some weird variants.

THE MATCH
A much more entertaining game than the one of the first team. Fabril and Bergantiños CF played a game that was equal in the first part, and that the visiting side could have won in the second. And once again coach Luisito made weird things in the first part.

If in the previous game with UD Paiosaco he didn’t hesitate in making two early changes as the team was poor in the first half, now he made an unusual planning since the kick-off. Because the attackers were placed in different positions to the ones they are used to perform.  Diego Villares is used to be the playmaker, and now he was attached to the right wing. David Sánchez was the link to the centre forward, a function that was now for Javi Sánchez as top-scorer Mario Losada was attacking from the left.

And it cannot be said that the coach was wrong with these novelties, because Fabril were very dangerous in the first half. The game witnessed two goals within the first fifteen minutes, first Miguel Duque scored after finalizing a good play on the right, and immediately Iago Gandoy replied with a precise shot from outside the area that surprised visiting goalie Santi Canedo.

There were no more goals in the meeting, but it was an entertaining game. Ex-Fabril Jorge Cano could have scored the second, but he missed the target collecting a high cross from the left (26’), and later Villares met the woodwork with a strong shot from inside the area (32’). Four minutes later Cano was close to score again, but he was unable to beat Álex Cobo from close range.

The second half was totally different, because Bergantiños CF prevailed. The visiting side had several chances to score, but Jorge Cano failed a shot before an empty net (55’), while another ex-Fabril player, Marcos Remeseiro, wasted another good chance (63’).

Luisito didn’t like what he saw and ordered the entries of Aarón Sánchez and Iago Novo, but the lads didn’t improve. Fabril ended the game playing on the counterattack and missing accuracy in the passes, a picture already witnessed in previous games. Jawed Boumeddane entered for the final minutes and it neither changed the outcome. With the result Fabril are now four points below the sixth position.
