MATCHDAY 30: DRAWS

04 Mar 2020
No changes in the positions as 6 of the 11 games in the matchday ended in draws. Cádiz CF with an important victory and Depor remain chained to the relegation battle.

For the first time in the new year, six of the eleven games in the matchday ended in draws. It’s a situation that already happened three times this season, and it’s the main factor why there weren’t changes among the first and the last places.

It was s till a good matchday for Cádiz CF, after two straight losses, they bet direct rival UD Almería (2-1) and extended their lead at the top to four points, this since Real Zaragoza could only get a point from their visit to Racing Santander (2-2).

For UD Almería, it was a confirmation of their poor moment as they have only added 2 of the last 18 points in dispute. They keep the third position only by the goal difference rule. SD Huesca wasted a good chance to pass them as they could only get a point at home facing Extremadura UD (2-2), the equalizer for the visiting side came at minute 88.

Nether Girona FC managed to advance after only getting a point in the visit to CD Mirandés (1-1). But it was a good day for Elche CF, the Valencians were coming from two straight defeats and managed to overcome CD Numancia (2-0). They have now a two-point advantage in the fight for the sixth position.

The crazy game in the matchday was the 3-4 victory of AD Alcorcón visiting CD Fuenlabrada. The game was 1-3 at half-time and the Madrilenians managed to equalize in the second half despite having one less man, but then they suffered a new expulsion and conceded the fourth goal.

With the outcome, AD Alcorcón jumped into the seventh position. SD Ponferradina are only one point behind them after they defeated Sporting Gijón at home (1-0). Rayo Vallecano kept their undefeated condition in 2020, but lost two positions at the standings after only getting a point from the visit to Albacete Balompié (1-1).

Finally, the disappointing game of Deportivo hosting CD Lugo (0-0). Both sides needed the three points and barely created chances to score. CD Lugo remain in relegation, while Depor are only two points above the drop zone.
