MONTERO: “IT WILL HARM US TO PLAY BEHIND CLOSED DOORS”

13 May 2020
Javi Montero doesn’t like the idea of playing games at the Riazor without public, for him the environment was giving an extra motivation to the players..

Centre-back Javi Montero addressed the media before Tuesday’s session in a virtual press conference. He understands the current circumstances, but assures that Depor lose impulse of it has to play games without public. The following is a summary of the main things he said.

The protocol: "The weirdest thing is not going into the changing room and training individually. But it is what the Minister and La Liga command, they are the ones who will look after us the most. If the Health Department says that we have to stay like this for a while, or the remainder of the season, then there is no problem. It is for everyone's health.”

La Liga is planning to concentrate players in a hotel: "We have been locked up for two months and being locked up, in quotation marks, for another month and a half is a bit strange, too long ...”

Playing behind closed doors: "The worst thing we for us is to play without an audience. With the fans it is like playing with one more point, with one more player, to play behind closed doors will harm us."

Will you be able to end the league? "I missed training. Now the important thing is to pick up the pace so we won’t lose shape. If the Health Department and La Liga have decided that we can train, we will do so. I am optimistic and I think the league will end. If they have set a date for the return of football it is because we can play, and I'm optimistic."

The situation at the standings: "The team was strong despite the last defeat . We will work with what the coach tells us to compete game by game."
