Midfielder Iago Gandoy has been promoted to the first team after signing a three-year contract extension. He believes that Depor is the right place to grow up as a footballer.

Iago Gandoy talked to reporters after his renewal and promotion to the first team was announced, he commented that, "Taking this big step... when it was finally made official, it was one of the happiest days of my life. Those of us who come from the academy always fight for this. A boy from A Coruña like me... this is my home. Since we were in Alevines all the lads wanted to get to the top. It was the goal. I feel pride and happiness and now it's time to give everything."

The midfielder was also talking of his weaknesses: "I have to improve a lot of things, but the aspect that stands out the most is the physical one. I’m a thin boy and I have to gain some muscle mass, because I have to be stronger in crashes and disputes. This year I'll improve it."

Then the midfielder analyzed his goal for the new season, "We all want to play every minute, but I have to respect the coach's decisions. My personal goal is to grow as a footballer and contribute as much as possible. My idea is to work as hard as possible and help Deportivo to get back to Segunda División."

"I think it's clear and more so for a boy like me. I have grown up here as a footballer, this is my home, so for me, no matter it’s Segunda B, it doesn't matter in which league we play, the way I grow up here is incredible, I think it will be very good for me and that I will progress a lot as a player.” He added.
