REWIEW: SOMOZAS 0 – FABRIL 0 (TERCERA)

20 Oct 2020
Fabril lasted six months in returning to compete, and added a point visiting one of the strongest teams in the subgroup.

BEFORE THE GAME
Fabril returned to compete after six months, the pandemic forced to cancel last season. Now, the coaches are Valerón and Manuel Pablo, but both men missed the game as they are isolated after the club detected a case in a member of the staff. Juvenil A coach Oscar Gilsanz was on the bench.

As it happened throughout the pre-season, the used scheme was a 4-3-3. Pablo Brea was the starting goalie, Isra Pérez covered the right side in defence, the left was for Álex Boedo. The central positions in defence were covered by David Suárez and Juan Rodriguez. The trio at midfield was composed by Álex Pérez, Famoussa Kanouté and Diego Villares. The trident in attack was for Jorge Sarmiento, Manu Mosquera and Rayco.

The rival was UD Somozas, a team that spent three seasons at Segunda B and that’s now stuck at the fourth tier. They have built up a strong side that’s targeting the promotion thanks to the signings of Pablo Rey, David Rojo and Marcos Álvarez.

THE MATCH
Decent outcome for a Fabril that starred in an equal game. Not too many chances to score in a match in which the defensive lines prevailed. Fabril had the better start, with Rayco Rodríguez creating a couple of chances on the left that ended in opportunities for Álex Pérez, both took place before minute 10 and were blocked by local goalie Marcos Souto.

The first big chance for the locals was a cross of Iago Blanco that Luis Niño sent out when he was alone before Brea (31’). The final fifteen minutes saw two blocks that weren’t blocking everything to the rival. The only chance in this frame was an attempt of Marcos Álvarez that went out (44’)

If the first part lacked opportunities, then the second half was something to forget in that regard. The only chance to score was a shot of Iago Blanco that came early in the half (47’). The rest of the game was to witness both defenses converted into impenetrable walls.
·
Both coaches started to make offensive modifications, but it didn’t change the game. Fabril saw the debut of Javi Sanmartín, Iván Guerrero, Álex Barba and Víctor Guedes, and also had to live the last thirteen minutes with one less man after Famoussa Kanouté was sent off with two yellow cards.
